Destination Ceremony - Key West (diy decor)

We only have 16 guests attending (this is a super small 10 year anniversary vow renewal). I rented an arch for the beach ceremony, but I'm doing the rest of the decor. Granted, there isn't much... 8 short tiki torches, 10 floral arrangements, and personalized beach towels for each couple to sit on). Have any of you traveled with your own DIY decor? If so, did you check it on the plane or did you ship it to the hotel you were staying at?

Hey Shannon! There really isn’t a right or a wrong answer for this, it’s whatever you are more comfortable with. If your decor will be fragile and you would be worried about it getting squashed in a checked bag, then perhaps shipping it would be a good option. You would be able to package it up with bubble wrap and mark the box as ‘Fragile’ so that care is taken with it. Are the flower arrangements likely to be bent or crushed if they were packing into a suitcase?

Hey Shannon I'm also doing a destination wedding and I'm planning to have 2 separate suit cases for all me diy projects because they are not fragile(BP t-shirts, favors, welcome basket, signs, etc). I figured its the same cost to fly with them than to ship them.

We’re also having a DW. I would check with your hotel or wherever you’d plan to ship the items to. I’ve seen many hotels/resorts that won’t accept packages for guests until the guest arrives for their stay as they don’t want to assume liability for lost/damage items. Personally, I’d try to travel with as many items as possible in my carry on luggage so I know my items are guaranteed to arrive.
