Delayed Wedding Photos - Advice Needed!

My husband and I got married just over 13 weeks ago and we still have not received our wedding photos. Our contract with our photographer said we should receive them after 8-12 weeks.

Back story, our photographer is an acquaintance of my husband (friend of a friend type of thing) and have known each other since high school. However, I have been handling all communication with our photographer.
About 5 weeks ago, our photographers friend tragically passed away (my husband also knew this person from high school). We attended the funeral and everything.
How do I approach our photographer about our photos? I’m not trying to come off insensitive.

I would maybe wait another week or so, and then if you still don't have them, reach out to the photographer to say something along the lines of, "Hello! I just wanted to check in and ask if you have an estimated timeline of when we can expect to receive our wedding photos? We are so excited to see how they turn out!"

Can your husband make the request and possibly allow raw images to be supplied?
