Decorations for a Fall 2020 wedding

Tricia, on October 19, 2019 at 3:18 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 13
Hello! First post here. My FH and I decided on a venue earlier this week and our date is 10/11/20. I'm a super planner, control freak, and an art teacher. All of this has combined to have me compulsively searching for decorations for my fall 2020 wedding now because there are so many great sales going on. Michael's, Hobby Lobby, Target etc. are all trying to get rid of their pumpkins this time of year. So far I've spent around $400 on decorations but I have basically 80% of what my ceremony and reception would need (flowers excluded). I'm feeling a little guilty for spending freely but I'm just so excited and the sales are so good! I couldn't get all this stuff next year for a good price in time for my wedding. Anyone else doing the same thing/thinking of doing the same/think I'm not totally nuts?! Haha

Your definitely not nuts. When there are good sales is the best time to buy and if you know what you want that’s great.

You are not nuts lol. I am a bit jealous though because I wish I was on your level of completion! Keep it up. Less things to have to worry about. Never second guess or feel guilty when it's such a good sale because like you said, you definitely wouldn't have gotten it that good in time for your wedding.

That’s awesome that you’re 80% done! I’ve got most “big” things done but I cannot decide on decorations at all. I think I’ve been neglecting it bc it’s not my strong skill; I’m super jealous of you creative/artsy visionaries.

Lol. I totally forgot until I read this post. We had a pirate wedding in March and my hubby bought a few pirate things on sale a few months before during a Halloween store sale (skulls, chains).

Hi! So I am a super planner, control freak and a program manager so it's basically my job to be a super planner. My wedding in 9.24.2020. I actually bought some of my decorations now because I wasn't sure if it would be available next year. And if I change my mind I have months to return things. Turnouts I changed my mind about having fake wreaths and garlands and will have real ones, so I will now be returning all fo the fake wreaths I purchased. I still have a majority of my decorations and I am very happy with it. My theme is a classy unicorn (very unique) navy, blush and green colors.

Here are some of the pumpkins I've purchased so far. I am going for a romantic and jewel toned autumn look (dark teal, rust are the main colors). I'm probably going to paint a lot of the unmatched details to all be gold but I like the mixed texture of all the different pumpkins I've found (Target) The white and orange pumpkins are craft ones from Michaels. I am using them to line the aisle with lanterns I just ordered from hobby lobby. I will also probably distress them or add some gold flakes to make them fit more into my theme. I'm going to supplement all these pumpkins with vintage picture frames, candlesticks, and mirrors to use as signs and table numbers but I am going Goodwill hunting for those. Here's my wedding pinterest board:https://pin.it/hek2cpsv2nk7g3

PS - Don't mind the mess in my tiny apartment!
