December Wedding Dates!

Katie, on June 16, 2019 at 1:25 AM Posted in Planning 0 8
Hi friends!
Trying to decide on a wedding date for this December. Initially I was looking at doing either a Friday or Sunday the weekend of December 13-15. The other alternative would be Friday, December 20th. Would love to hear thoughts and opinions on which weekend would work better, closer to or further out from Christmas?

My thoughts for closer would be that most people already have off that close to Christmas and wouldn’t have to take off twice in December... but then again, would people be willing to travel that close to Christmas?

Thanks everyone!

In all honesty this close to the wedding finding a venue with a open date and December may not happen. Venues tend to book up over a rest in advance for the popular times of year same with DJ and photographer. If you are set on December this year I would see what date if any venues have open.

I agree. For my first wedding I wanted December. But fir the venues I liked, I found myself competing with company Christmas parties who had already booked December dates early. So I didn’t feel like fighting it and got married in January.

But if you do find a December date at a venue you like I would go with farther away from Christmas. Even though people are off, sometimes they travel. I would go with farther away from Christmas. Even though people are off, sometimes they travel. Also, the closer it gets to Christmas, that becomes peoples’ focus.

My venue burnt down 2 weeks ago for my December 14th wedding. Luckily most of my vendors (minus my florist) are willing to travel to us, about an hour, for our now December 13th wedding. Most places didn’t have the 14th open so we had to settle with a Friday! We chose as far away from Christmas as we could. But we definitely felt like we were competing for space with Christmas and holiday parties when we were looking our second time

So sorry to hear about your venue! Glad to hear it’s all working out. I agree, it’s tough finding the balance with all of everything going on that sweet season.

Thank you for the input so far! Surprisingly the beautiful venue that I want has all the December dates I’m looking at available so far. Touring it tomorrow and hopefully will be able to narrow down the dates!

We're having a New Years Eve wedding. We booked in Feb and most of the venues that I called to tour we're already booked up for NYE parties already!. If possible can you do the wedding the first week in December or Even NYE?
