December 2019 brides... how far along are you?

Hannah, on July 16, 2019 at 9:15 PM Posted in Planning 0 23
Wedding date is December 14th, 2019 so right at 5 months out. This week I have totally stressed myself out with wedding planning. I go through phases where I’m super organized and planning and then I don’t think about it for weeks at a time. (I work full time and also own my own boutique so I’m busy). So I was just wondering, for brides with dates close to mine.. what all do you have done/paid for?

I have the honeymoon and our venue booked and both will be paid off within a month. I have my dress on its way and ordering all bridesmaid dresses within the next 2 weeks (I know cutting it close but shop said it was fine). I have a plan for the cake, and will be booking the DJ and caterer this week. No idea about flowers yet other than I know I want fake ones (if any of you have suggestions that’d be awesome). I feel like I’m so far behind all the sudden.😩 where are you guys at with this?

    December 7th!!

Venue and guest list done. We have a tasting and details meeting next weekend with just under half of our balance due.

Save the dates are out with invitations going out in the next couple of weeks. Website is also ready to go along with our registries.

Rehearsal dinner venue is booked and menu as been selected.

Additional rental chairs for our reception have been selected with half of our balance remaining.

Hotel blocks have been created for out of town guests.

Dresses are picked out and picked up; just need to worry about alterations. Even my accessories are ready. The guys are slowly working on getting their tuxes done.

Decor is all set and packed away. We opted for flowerless centerpieces and minimal decor to make thing easier.

Bridal party gifts are ready to go and waiting.

Flowers have been selected with just a couple hundred dollars left on our balance.

Photographer has been selected and we even have our e-pics done as well. Another payment to her next week and we'll just have a couple hundred dollars left due to her.

DJ has been chosen with playlists all lined up. We just need to get the music together and hammer out details with him.

    ...I think that's it.... I think...

    December 30th!

-Venue (w/ catering) booked & deposit made. 2nd payment coming in August according to their schedule.

-Wedding dress purchased! (gift from parents)

-Bridesmaid color swatches ordered. Still making final decision for who wears what color (we have 3!), but should be able to tell them info for ordering this week.

-Centerpieces decided, vendor contacted. (We're renting terrariums from someone on FB marketplace!)

-Ceremony backdrop vendor decided, am scheduling a meeting in person.

-Visited w/ two florists, will go with the 2nd, but need to follow-up via email & confirm.

    -Groom suit & ring ordered.

-My wedding band was purchased with the engagement ring (we picked out together)

-Hotel block made (it's our venue, so that was taken care of automatically)

-Guest list made, need to collect addresses.

    -Invitations just ordered yesterday!

-DJ booked (my brother, who is a legit dj. so helpful!)

    -Photographer booked (fiance's uncle)

    -Donut shop decided for "cake"

-So many things sitting in the amazon cart for decor while I decide. hahaha

(I'm a teacher on summer break who's teaching summer school part-time, so I'm trying to just get everything done NOW while it's less crazy.)

I feel like so many things are "decided" or partially done, but not real yet, so it's a funny place to be. It's nice to have time to plan, but I also think we could have pulled this off faster than we thought! We got engaged at the beginning of May, so a 7-month engagement. I have a lot of friends who have done it in 4(ish) months!

I actually work for Human Resources at a school board and this is our busiest time!!😩 I’m thinking I’ll have way more time in the fall but a lot of things need to be done by then. It sounds like you may be a little farther along than me but pretty close in comparison! I totally agree with the weird in between period. I have a ton of things decided, but waiting for the next paycheck, etc. I knew when he proposed last Christmas I wanted a Christmas wedding so I bought a bunch of decor when it was 75% off after Christmas last year and I’ve picked up some things along the way. We haven’t looked at tuxes yet but know what we want. I owe a couple hundred on my dress but will pay it off as soon as it’s in, bridesmaid dresses have been decided on but will be ordered this week and next. Caterer and DJ have been decided just waiting on the formal invoice to book those this week. Again, totally lost on flowers. Have not even began looking at wedding bands, ha. Photographer is booked but not paid for yet (she’s a close friend). Cake is decided (Publix) but we haven’t ordered yet. Venue and honeymoon together we owe about $5000 on but will be paid for within the month. And I know there’s so many other things I haven’t even thought of yet but it’s nice to know I’m not the only one that isn’t completely done! I don’t know if I could’ve pulled it off faster financially but planning wise I think it would’ve been easier than this hurry up and wait game!

We’re wedding date twins (December 14th, 2019)!!! We have everything complete done!! We still have to pay the catering company (but we haven’t sent out our RSVP yet). We have our decor, rings, dresses for everyone, suits, shoes, jewelry. Flowers haven’t been ordered (Sam’s Club) because it too early. I’m doing my own hair and makeup so I didn’t need to book an appointment. DJ, venue, minister, photographer, cake (Publix), are all been paid in full. We just sent our STD last week, our invitations have been bought and are ready to go (I’m mailing them in October). Bridesmaids gifts have been bought and are wrapped. Both honeymoons are paid for. Also rehearsal dinner is booked (FMIL is paying). I think that’s just about everything.

I haven’t decided if I’m going to hire someone to do my hair. I know I can do it myself and might to save money but I think I’d be way less stressed if I hired someone to do it. Where did you get your invites? Also rsvps? I’m having a hard time finding some that have room to type a message? Also, what are you thinking for bridal party gifts? I don’t even know where to start.

I will be getting my hair done by my stylist but doing my own makeup to save money. We did a trial the other day and it turned out pretty great. Practice makes perfect. I got my invites and rsvps on elegant wedding invites .com. For wedding party gifts I will Be making custom beer glasses for the guys and wine glasses for the girls. The guys will have just their names on it. The girls will have their favorite Disney princesses on it.

So my ladies are 18, 17, and 11. So I got them a little something from Bath and Body Works. I also got them some nail polish. And a bag with their initial on it. I bought them a bracelet and earrings to wear for our wedding.

Here’s what I got them to wear. My Jr. bridesmaid doesn’t have pierced ears so her earrings are clip on.

I got my invitations in the mail today and I am so excited! We won't mail them out until September, but I found a 50% off code at Vistaprint, so we decided to jump on it. 100 foil invites for $95 (after tax & shipping)!
