DC, MD, NoVA - best bridal shower locations?

The O-fficial MrsJoseph!, on April 27, 2010 at 11:28 AM Posted in Planning 0 8

So, my mom is "hosting" my bridal shower (meaning I'm doing it myself). I need to "find her" locations in the DC area where we can hold a bridal shower for very low cost - and people can bring food (no catering!). Any suggestions?

I wanted to do a Kitchen Shower them. Ask people to bring their favorite recipes (cards to be sent with invites), mostly focus on kitchen stuff, kinda pot luck, with a warm and home-like feel. Nothing super fancy.

We plan to use these invites: http://www.target.com/dp/B002DEJ32C/ref=gp_se_search-results-asin-redirect

Here are a few places in Arlington.

Also check out your local library, somtimes for a small donation they have a space that you can use. I also know that Fairfax County has a huge recreation facilites list. Hope that helps.

Good luck, let me know how it turns out. I was looking at all the historial places around and man they charge a TON of money. I guess when you don't charge people to get in you have to make your money somewhere. :-) Also just a thought if you or any of your friends live at a nice apartment/condo community somtimes they will rent out the common area space in the clubhouse for private parties for something as simple as a $250 check that they hold for damages. If there is no damage they hand you back your check, so no money out of your pocket at all and most spaces have a kitchen area.

    Great idea, Jaemi!! (virtual high-five!)

I just went and checked with a friend who has one of those types of rooms in his complex. Its' $75 plus deposit($?) and it has a kitchen!! Yaaay! I'll just need to confirm with the complex the deposit price and then our friend (BestMan) will reserve it for me. I can barely remember what this place looks like, but if it has tables & chairs, that's all I need.

Thanks girl! A lot of times the community actually has extra tables and chairs. If not if someone belongs to a local church they usually let you borrow them for a donation or deposit. Yeah!!
