I would absolutely recommend to anyone a day of coordinator. I know a few youtubers that didn't have one so things just were a mess and your day goes by fast enough, you don't want to spend it stressing more than you did in the planning process!

How big is your wedding and is everything in one location?

As a DOC myself with a guest count of 300 and 2 different venues, it was a no brainer for me to find a DOC so I didn’t have to deal with the logistics at the second site while I was getting married at the first. The smallest wedding I work was for a 50 guest wedding and I did all the set up at their house for their after party while they were at dinner.

For people who don’t use a DOC, they rely on family members and friends to help carry out their vision. If you’re comfortable with asking people close to you help you on the day of and trust them enough, you can get by without a DOC. For myself though, I will be relying on family and friends for the prep work, but day of I want them to relax so I’m handing off the responsibilities.

Yes! One of the best decisions I made was to get a day of coordinator. I felt like I could just enjoy my day to the fullest because I didn’t have to worry about all the coordinating/details. Literally everything was done for me as I got to enjoy my day without that stress. And my family got to truly enjoy their day as well without worrying about setting up, cleaning up, etc. i tell everybody that is planning a wedding that it’s so worth it.

I had two day of coordinators (only originally hired one but a second one came on later due to changing hands of the company).
Yes. It was definitely a good decision. They called all my vendors to confirm times, they made sure everyone showed up on time, they helped make the day run smooth. I didn’t worry about anything except the getting married part the day of my wedding. Would definitely recommend it!

We did not have a coordinator of any kind and it worked just fine for us. If you feel you need one and it's in the budget, absolutely do it - but it can be done without!

I am a ridiculously organized weirdo - lists on lists on lists. My mom is retired and is also a list maker. Between the two of us, we were very on top of everything. On the day of the wedding, my bridal party were the super heroes. With three of them having their own weddings in the last few years, they knew what to take ownership of without me having to ask. We may have gotten lucky with all of that, but if we had hired a DOC or a coordinator of any kind outside of our venue "head contact" it would have been a huge waste of cash on our end.

We did not have a day of coordinator. Everything pretty much ran smoothly. All of our vendors were experienced working at our venue so they knew what to do and I confirmed everything with them in the week leading up. The one place a coordinator would have been helpful would have been handing out the flowers for family members. That got a little confusing. Luckily mil jumped in and helped. I also did not mind if I had to answer questions from/direct vendors if needed. But ultimately the vendors pretty much took care of everything. It was definitely not in our budget to hire one and it ended up working out pretty well. But ultimately if you can afford it and you don’t want the possibility of handling situations that may arise it may be worth. If not then you’ll be just fine without one 😊

My ceremony and reception are in the same location and I am lucky enough to have a DOC that is provided by the venue. This is my second wedding and I did not have one for my first one and I remember having to rely on my family and wedding party to make everything perfect for me and it was! This time the only thing I am doing is decorations and my DOC will take care of everything else.

If you don't have anyone that can keep track of your vendors and keep everything on schedule and whatnot, I definitely recommend a DOC.
