Day of Coordinator or Partial/full Wedding Planner

Alyssarizeleds, on July 18, 2019 at 10:53 AM Posted in Planning 0 12

Hey guys!

So I am planning a wedding out of state, we are in Columbus MS and getting married in Seattle WA on Sept 6, 2020 and will only be going home so many times. I am unsure if I can manage with a day of coordinator or if I will need a partial/full wedding planner.

The things I feel like I will need help on are

-vendor contract review

-coordination of rentals

-coordinate set up/tear down (tables, chairs, linen, centerpieces, signs, decor etc)

-confirming vendor times

-floor plan help

-budget help, finding the best deal with vendors

-usher guests to throw their trash away

-wedding timeline

-Setup and organize items such as place cards, programs, guest book, license, rings etc...

theres probably more but thats what I can think of at the top of my head.

*Do DOC or wedding planners normaly take care of set up/tear down/ and room flip?

What do you guys think? A DOC a partial planner or full planning?

If it's within your budget to get a full on wedding coordinator, then I'd say do it.

I had a DOC and she helped tremendously, and don't regret it at all.

With your contract review, budget, floorplan, rentals, and timelines you're going to need more than a DOC.
I'd start looking a few planner's up and collecting info from them.
I believe they usually help with set up. Sometimes tear down. When I talked to a DOC, I was fuzzy on if she would help room flip, or if I had to pay more.

This definitely sounds like partial or full service planning. A DOC isn’t going to review your contracts or look for deals with vendors. I would reach out to planners in your area to get details on their services. The responsibilities of a partial service planner can be blurred, so they will typically differ from person to person.

I can only speak w: what my DOC is handling. She’s with the venue & the venue is all inclusive. They are handling the decorating & and clean up. Assisting with the reception timing (the DJ is also assisting her), the linens, centerpieces (they are included in the venue).

We are not renting anything - as everything is included.
The venue offered a list of their prefer vendors - some of whom we used.
She is not handling the coordination of times w/ the vendors. We have told our vendors what our start time & they have coordinated the delivery times based on that. She is handling meeting the vendors the day of.

Thanks everyone! I will definitely look into more planners and I think having a full on planner from across the country would give me a little more peace of mind Smiley smile

It sounds like you'll need a full wedding planner for that
