Day of Coordinator - Help

Trinity, on October 20, 2019 at 8:35 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

Hello All,

I have a budget of $800 or less for a DOC. Is this too little? My venue is all inclusive. Most of them quoted me for at least $900. There are two that quoted for less than $700. How do I know the cheaper DOC I hire will be trustworthy?

Also, what questions should I ask them? Thanks!

Very interesting ! Is there a way you can check reviews? Or come up with a list of questions and interview them ?

I think that's a very reasonable budget for a day of coordinator! Cheaper doesn't mean they're not as good. They could be newer or smaller or any number of things. I would start by asking your venue for recommendations. They may not have any, but it's worth a shot! I would ask questions like:

How many times can we meet before the wedding? Are there a certain number of phone calls you'll take regarding my wedding?

How many weddings have you been DOC for in the past?

Is it just you, or do you have other people I'll be working with during the planning?

Will you set up our personal items? Handle tips for our vendors?

What hours would you plan on working the day of the wedding?

Will you coordinate delivery, arrival and set up time with vendors directly? Can I give them your contact info in case there are any issues on the wedding day?

Will you bring an emergency kit or do you usually bring one?

What do you need from me prior to the wedding?

Will you handle any issues that may arise on the day of the wedding?

    What won't you help with?

What are some challenges you've faced with previous weddings you've been the DOC for and how did you handle them?

    Hi Trinity!

Will you be working with a wedding coordinator for your venue? If so, I would first check out what their role is on the day of your wedding.

I would definitely look into the differences in the service provided by the different DOCs to see if there is a specific reason that some are so much cheaper than others.

I came across this article in the Ideas section that I think would also be interesting for you to check out - Hiring a Day-of Coordinator

Thank you! My venue somehow suggests all the expensive vendors (DOC, photographers, florist, etc.)

Not totally surprised there... sometimes I'm convinced they discuss that with each other and try to get couples to spend more than is necessary. it's crazy!!
