David's ruined my dress: UPDATE in comments

I went to pick up my dress today at David's Bridal. They absolutely mangled it. I'm losing my mind over it. I lost about 30 lbs since buying it, and paid almost $1k total JUST for alterations. I had it hemmed first, then bustled, and each appointment just got more and more expensive. I regret it so...

I went to pick up my dress today at David's Bridal. They absolutely mangled it. I'm losing my mind over it.

I lost about 30 lbs since buying it, and paid almost $1k total JUST for alterations. I had it hemmed first, then bustled, and each appointment just got more and more expensive. I regret it so much.

But for that price, you'd think it'd be perfect, though. The waist needs taken in, the arms are so tight I can't lift my arms, there's a whole in a sleeve, one of the breast cups is flat and the other is normal (the seamstress actually said to me, "maybe you lost weight in one of your breasts").

It's just a disaster. I've already called corporate and I'm going back tomorrow for a meeting with the store manager. I told her I just want a replacement dress and I'll take it somewhere else for alterations. She insisted on having her team try and fix the dress by tomorrow, so we'll see -- especially since they didn't pin it or take any new measurements.

Freaking out.

    I'm so sorry you're going through this! I hope it gets resolved quickly.

    I've heard too many horror stories about David's on this site that I'm not stepping foot in there.

    @OctobersVeryOwn, I do NOT recommend using them for alterations. Honestly, the cost was just outrageous and the service was awful. I'm just so grateful I left with a wearable dress.

    Oh my goodness! I'm so happy to hear that the problem has (mostly) been fixed, but I'm so sorry you had to go through that stress! I hope the refund will be decent, and if it isn't, I'd be fighting them.

    Damn glad this worked out for you. This is the same store where my BM ordered their dresses. I got mine at AA in Lancaster before they closed down. Your dress is beautiful!

    That is unacceptable. Years ago the bridal salon my sister went to mangled the alterations on her dress and they fixed it ASAP by ordering her a dress cut to her measurements. The David's Bridal response is terrible and reverse/dispute any charges from them in your credit card. Good luck!

    Wow lots of horror stories from Davids Bridal. I'm so sorry you went through this. The dress does look a lot better now, but clearly you still do not feel that it's perfect so continue having that fight with corporate. You have the pictures and their alterations are completely unacceptable. If you paid on credit or debit card, you should definitely consider disputing the charge. I definitely believe you'd win a dispute case.

    UGH! I've heard NOTHING BUT complete horror stories about DB's! I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy!!! I honestly am not sure how they stay in business!!- also just a side note.. I am adding sleeves to my dress and I was told that with sleeves, I won't be able to raise my arms completely up over my head! Just some advice to keep in mind since they obviously didn't seem to share that with you!

    I'm glad you got your dress fixed! I've heard so many awful stories about DB's alterations.

    As a side note, that is the dress that I have been eyeing up for months!!! I don't have my dress yet but that is my top choice Smiley smile Love it!

    Good lord! How terrible! I'm so glad you got a (sort of) positive resolution. I feel like I had a completely randomly amazing DB experience...the consultant made me feel like I was on Say Yes to the Dress, and the alterations were perfect. But I really wonder how they stay in business with a mostly awful team everywhere!

    They just ruined my wedding pictures and cost me over 400 dollars on on bridesmaids dress that they ordered the wrong size in 3 times, then after leaving that store going to unfortunately another David’s the girl picked 3 dresses out for my daughter to try which were all suppose to be in petal nope one off the dresses was a different color I didn’t realize it till after we payed and then they said once again sorry there’s nothing we can do, I swear I will warn every bride to be I meet stay away from this awful chain they will end up making your special day a disaster! 😡
