David's ruined my dress: UPDATE in comments

I went to pick up my dress today at David's Bridal. They absolutely mangled it. I'm losing my mind over it. I lost about 30 lbs since buying it, and paid almost $1k total JUST for alterations. I had it hemmed first, then bustled, and each appointment just got more and more expensive. I regret it so...

I regret it so much.

But for that price, you'd think it'd be perfect, though. The waist needs taken in, the arms are so tight I can't lift my arms, there's a whole in a sleeve, one of the breast cups is flat and the other is normal (the seamstress actually said to me, "maybe you lost weight in one of your breasts").

It's just a disaster. I've already called corporate and I'm going back tomorrow for a meeting with the store manager. I told her I just want a replacement dress and I'll take it somewhere else for alterations. She insisted on having her team try and fix the dress by tomorrow, so we'll see -- especially since they didn't pin it or take any new measurements.

Freaking out.

Can they order you a new dress closer to your size? Then maybe do minimal rush alterations?

I have an off the shoulder neckline with sleeves from David's and I can't lift my arms neither and the seamtress pretty much told me the same things there's nothing they can do about it

Oh hell to the no! Pitch that fit! They'd best be fixing that or rush replacing it (noticed your date) super fast! Take no prisoners.

Did you pay on a credit card? Reverse that charge! The hole...you cannot fix that! It is not on a seam. Girl, I hate to be a jerk....but your dress looks a mess. I wouldn't pitch a fit, I would build a village of complaint! Heck no! $1,000 for alterations on a David's Bridal dress...um, no! I had my salon put in writing on the receipt (carbon copy one) "Alterations not to exceed $300.00". I was already aware alterations were crazy and wanted to make sure they didn't take me to the bank.

That is insane. If it is a charge, dispute it. You ARE NOT getting what you ordered. A jacked up dress is not ok! You could probably buy the dress from David's online, have it shipped to you and take elsewhere for alterations before you get this cleared up. I would not stop until I got a new dress. That is horrible that they thought you should be ok with this dress. Shame on them.

I've asked them to order a new dress, and the manager would only agree to "research it" before our meeting tomorrow. But that is absolutely what I'm pushing for!

@Mozabrat, I did pay on a credit card and absolutely intend to contact them tomorrow. I wanted to wait until after the meeting in the morning to hear their solutions. And you are not being a jerk at all -- there is no disputing how awful it looks. The seamstress's fix for the hole: Patch lace over it. What?!

Omg.. I am so sorry OP! I tried that dress on when I was still looking and it is gorgeous! I remember it being kind of comfortable so not being able to raise your arms is a huge change from that. I would complain to them and see if you can get a refund or a new dress seeing as they messed yours up.

Hi guys! An update as promised: I just picked my dress up and it honestly looks like a new dress. It is SO much better. However, there are still some flaws but I just took it. The store won't give me even a partial refund on alterations, so back to corporate I go! I at least have a wearable dress now, which is a huge relief.
