David's Bridal Must Hate Fat Girls

Crystal, on March 11, 2011 at 7:04 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 40

It seems like every one of their "plus sized" dresses are just so boring and ugly. Why can't I have tulle, jewels, and lace like those skinnys? haha

My first wedding dress shop only had 2 - 4 - 6. I was going to shoot myself.

Shop around, I went to a local bridal shop that had so many plus size dresses.

Yes...shop around!! I am a size 18/20 (depending on the maker) and I was completely disgusted with DB. I shopped around a gorgeous dress for me from Allfred Angelo. Trust me, they are out there. Keep looking and I hope you find someone you love!!

Keep shopping. DB's is far from being the only game in town. They just have more ads. I've seen some stunning plus size gowns. Sadly, I have no idea what lines they were from. I just know that the brides I was working with looked & felt fabulous! And the gowns came with all the bling'd out trimmings~ you'll find it

I think DB dresses are boring period! Alfred angelo, Casablanca, and Jasmine have some pretty ones though!

Why not google plus size bridal gowns in your area? I did and found koda bridal which I am hoping to make a visit to soon! I am actually excited!

Well see, I picked DB because they are cheap. I found a couple of other boutiques here, but they all sell gowns that are like $1000!

I picked David's Bridal for the prices too, but I did notice their plus-size dresses were a lot plainer. That's awful.

I haven't started looking but I do pay attn to this comments because last thing I want is to walk in and feel bad. So far I've heard people going to a different location of db and finding a perfect gown and most of the girls recommend Alfredo

DB has cute plus sizes that are online exclusives. Does anyone know if they can bring dresses offline without charging you?

Try craigslist, some people dont end up having weddings and sell their dresses, plus they would be cheaper and i have seen alot of plus sizes!

I hate the feeling when you go shopping and nothing fits, not only am I a "bigger" girl but I am really tall too .... I have a smaller waist and a big butt so its always a struggle ... you would think that DB would keep in mind brides of all shapes want to look beautiful on their big day .... and i am sure you will look stunning in the dress you find I say Frick you DB! ;0)

There are tons of dresses out there.

Maybe try getting it custom made. I know it sounds like a lot but then you can get exactly what you want. I just started a site for Plus Size Brides, Pretty Pear Bride.com and I feature a dress designer each Monday. Some suggestions are allurebridal.com, alfred angelo, and don't forget Vera Wang is now carrying plus size gowns through davids bridal. Picture is below. Check out the site for more. Hope that helps!!

@Bert's Girl- Yay! Hope to meet you soon!

Crystal, you can have tulle, lace and a gorgeous dress. Keep looking. There are dresses out there for less than $100. Call some shops, even boutiques, and ask what their price ranges are.

I took a chance and ordered mine from china.. I am not rich by any means.. but I figured if I didnt like the dress. I would sell or donate it. It was $135 / free shipping. The seller was great, I received it in about a month. I love it im so happy
