Cupcake Stand Decor Ideas

Mrs. Del Grosso, on September 25, 2012 at 10:08 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 9

So FI and I are doing cupcakes instead of a traditional wedding cake due to budget. We have 200 guests so there is a $500 difference if we were gonig to do a traditional cake instead of cupcakes. Well I have been trying to find a holder that's sturdy, I can decorate myself and decently priced to hold around 200 cupcakes, well, I finally found one on cupcaketree.com! It can hold anywhere from 150-300 cupcakes, and it's only $42! Well now I am trying to figure out ideas on how to decorate it. Our colors are black, white and silver. We are having an saturday evening wedding, the entire wedding is inside (we don't really have much of a theme) I saw one lady had bought wrapping paper and glued it to each circle along with adding ribbon around the outside of the circle (we will probably do that as well) Here's a picture of the stand... Any ideas?

I was thinking about coloring the pieces in the middle that hold each layer black. I know I shouldn't do too much since the cupcakes will be covering it. What about... black stand, keep the piece in the middle white (just paint it a brighter white) and silver ribbon on the outsides of the circle??

That is something that we had but a little smaller we would have fit all the cupcakes on there but we had a little cake. You should leave it as is, like you said the cupcakes will cover it, but if you really want to get creative go for it!

You can also call your local wedding supply place and see if you can rent a nice wooden one. I am able to rent one just like this for $25 and I bought some of the "wrappers" at oriental trading for cheap

I keep seeing the layers painted and ribbon glued on the edge. Look on saveoncrafts.com they have a bigger square ( a bit more modern ) for like 36$. And several others for the same cost as your paying!!! Worth a look!

You can cover them with scrap book papers or even wrapping paper. I have seen all sorts of ways to decorate them. I plan on doing something similar myself. Just be careful of how many that actually holds, make sure the size of cupcake you are getting will fit. Is the 300 min cupcakes? or party size? regular? or jumbo?

Just something to consider Smiley smile

The 300 that it holds is is a regular to jumbo sized cupcake holder. I was also thinking about on the bottom board getting chandelier garland and on the other tier boards for the edges trying to find rhinestone ribbon since our cake topper has rhinestones in it...

Thanks for all the ideas ladies!

My friend used this exact stand! We used the white that already existed and added cobalt blue (her color) ribbon around the bottom edge of each layer. I'm not going to lie, it took some effort to get it even.

Scrapbook paper. You can cover the layers in it, and cut the appropriate slits from the bottom so you can still assemble it.
