Covid-19 wedding stress.

My wedding is May 9, 2020. The place we are doing our honeymoon thru asked us to cancel or postpone today and my venue said they will decide the first week of April if they will be canceling wedding in April/May and that if we wanted to reschedule we could at no extra charge or cancel for a full refund (haven’t spoken to other vendors yet but they haven’t said anything about canceling either) I don’t plan to reschedule, with hopes this will have calmed down by then, but the anxiety of are they going to cancel or not is driving me insane. I planned on playing in by ear and if by like mid April things haven’t lighten up reschedule because we will be married one way or another and no reason to put others at risk if the risk is still running rampant across America. What are you all doing during all of this?

We are supposed to get married May 23 in a state park in New York and the venue was supposed to open April 9th, but is now not even opening until May 1. All our vendors are still willing to work with us if we still have it. We are looking into a tiny wedding with 27 people and then receptions with family around the country over the summer. If we go that route, we will be hiring a videographer to take high quality videos so we can share those with family who cannot be there.

Neither of us want to postpone. My sister is supposed to get engaged and married soon so we don't want to try to compete with them for the spotlight. That being said, it's unlikely that this will have calmed down by the beginning of May looking at what's happening in other countries. We are trying to figure out our Plan B and be ready to call and audible if needed.

Hi Ashlei! I've heard a lot of different things! Some brides are waiting another week or two before making decisions, and others felt much more relieved to make the early call to reschedule.

You aren't alone right now! Smiley heart You can connect with other May brides facing the same questions here: May brides and your plan of action?

Thank you! We’ve been together 9 years as of last week and of course we’d finally pick the year of pandemic to decide to get married 🤦🏼‍♀️
