I was just on another discussion board and see people are spending $ 500 -$700 for a DJ. Where are you located?? The cheapest I found is $1500 for 5 hours.

I chose an award winning DJ, it’s worth it to us. They are usually around that cost here in my state. We definitely splurged on the dJ but I wouldn’t change a thing. He’s gonna be awesome. Remember the DJ hosts the entire night. Keep that in mind
We splurged a little bit because to us the DJ can make or break the wedding. Our DJ has a great reputation and will definitely bring the life to the party. He's about $2300. This also includes a photo booth and worker, ceremony music, ceremony microphone/setup, and cocktail hour music. It feels like a lot- but we wanted to invest in a good DJ so we aren't discouraged. We also saved on some other vendors which helped us feel a bit more comfortable with our decision.
We’re paying $995 for 6 hours in NH. There were very few that were that cheap though. More experienced DJs were more like $1500 for 5 hours.
Well from what everyone else is reading I think we paid a lot. We paid around 3200 for the DJ, 1 MC, the ceremony, cocktail hour, the reception (all this equals 6 hours). We also got uplighting, lighting for the dance space, and a photobooth.
I don’t blame you I would be a little reluctant with no reviews. One thing you don’t want to do is make a bad decision on who you choose. After all they are a huge part of your wedding and will be the center of the entertainment. If you need to spend a little more it will be worth the cost at your reception.
The wedding is in Los Angeles, and I had a really hard time finding a DJ within my budget. My coordinator referred me to one that cost $900 for the reception (5 hours) but I needed to add uplighting for $400. The cost of lighting is crazy!
