I was just on another discussion board and see people are spending $ 500 -$700 for a DJ. Where are you located?? The cheapest I found is $1500 for 5 hours.

I live in Charleston SC and it took a while, like over a month, of looking everyday and lots of conversations but finally found a good DJ for $600. She is providing ceremony and reception music for 6 hrs. I would suggest asking around and try finding an individual DJ vs one that works for these big companies you find in Google searches.
We live in Western Massachusetts. Our DJ is $600 for about 8 hours. It's not his main job and he's also my FH's BM's cousin so he only charged us his base price.

We paid about $500 for our DJ in Texas. He will be there for the ceremony through the reception.
We are in central North Carolina, and our DJ is $675 for 6 hours (cocktail hour and reception) with $100 per hour for any additional hours. I was not wanting to spend more than $880 or $1000, and we got a recommendation for this guy and it was perfect for what we wanted/were looking for.
In Temecula, CA so between Los Angeles and San Diego, I got quotes for $800-$1200 for ceremony through reception. I was able to negotiate a good rate because it will be off-season
We paid $1,800 for our DJ, who delivered! She was amazing! With the cost she covered ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, and uplighting. We had a few other special touches that were included in that price. Located in Upstate, NY where depending on your location prices vary, but the top DJs seem to usually run between 1,500-2,500 around here.

Philly - $1400 for 4 hours... at a reduced rate 🙄.
We are paying 500 for 4 hours - but the DJ is a friend that works with FH and he has a business with another DJ and they are giving us a discounted rate.
Honestly, things are so overpriced now-a-days! Our Dj 8: $990 for 10 hours and we lucked out with that. Every other place around here was $1,200 or higher and for less hours. Now this is Illinois area, so I don’t know where you live!
