Corona virus weddings in Cali

Teresa, on January 9, 2021 at 10:55 AM Posted in California Planning 0 3
Hi All,

I'm a Mar 2021 bride. We got engaged July 2019 and purposely chose to have the wedding within 2 years. At first, I wasn't too happy but I'm so blessed we did but now the corona virus is starting to look like a threat to my wedding. We have our 1st appt with the venue this month (January ). I did speak with the manager last month and they sent a video for couple to watch on what measures they are taking to make sure weddings happen. She sais at the moment they are working with Jan & Feb couples. She asurred my that they are watching CDC guidelines and are keeping an eye out for any changes but that my wedding is in May and things might be a little calmer. I'm not so sure about that. Currently, we have 120 guests. Wev already know quite a few guest are immuno compromised guest that we know aren't coming and that's understandable. So we plan on calling guest to let them know we're still proceeding with the wedding and if they feel comfortable going? If no, one less invite to send but I'm wondering if it's rude to ask those guest still interested in coming to the wedding to quarentine for 14 days and take a covid test? My sister who is one of my bridesmaids thinks I should. At this point we're anticipating 60 to 70 guest which is fine with us because we really one wanted friends and family that are close to us. What do you guys think?

    Hi!
I was a March 2020 bride and am now a March 2021 bride. I think it's perfectly acceptable to ask guests to get tested in advance since things are so bad in CA and SoCal right now. We're figuring out if we're moving ahead or postponing again. If your guests get the free test they only need to isolate 3-5days before the wedding when waiting for results, but I'd suggest working with your venue on health & safety measures to help quell any guest concerns which is what we're doing.

I definitely think it's a smart move by everyone to get tested if they can!!
