Corona July wedding

Jessica, on April 22, 2020 at 11:05 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 20
Hey everyone so I wanted to se everyone’s feeling now in April. My wedding is July 26 and I’m still nervous because of a possible second wave and I’m unsure of the best decision to make my wedding is in cape May on the beach / tent on the beach at Icona but it still worried me because I see how bad things are here in New York. I figure I would make my final decision by the end of May first week of June on what to do and also I figured this is the latest to send invites out. I do have a backup date of 9/13. Does anyone have any input or advice. Nervous to make the wrong move and regret it

I’m in the philly suburbs. We postponed from May 9th to July 24th and I’m praying it’ll work out. I’ll lose my mind if I have to postpone again. So I won’t be making any calls till end of June, if I have to. Praying it works out for all of us! My biggest worry is the amount of people they would allow in a group gathering.

Mine is July 18 and I haven’t sent any invites out but most of my family and friends know we are getting married and still plan on coming. I’m still holding out hope for a July wedding. My fiancé and I are 36 and 48 and want to start having kids so we may still get married that date and just have a reception next year.

We also had a July wedding planned and decided to postpone to next summer (our venue couldn't accommodate anything before that). I will say I definitely felt better after committing to a decision. If July comes and it turns out large gatherings are fine, so be it. We will still have a beautiful wedding.

Have you spoken to your any of your guests? One of the biggest reasons we postponed was that even if large gatherings are legally allowed by then, we knew our grandparents, aunts, uncles, and even parents would not be comfortable at such a large gathering so soon after the peak of the pandemic. With your wedding being outdoors though, maybe people will feel differently/the rules will be different?

Either way, good luck to you. No matter what, it will be lovely. September is also a great month for a wedding, and two months isn't that long to wait if you decide.

I'm July 25th and haven't postponed yet. We actually did contact the venue to talk Plan B but they were focusing on May and June brides. My guess is that based on our state's phased re-opening we may be forced to postpone. I'm not super confident, but there is a little bit of hope that I feel that maybe we can pull this off. We aren't sending invites until early/mid June at the latest to get a better sense of what is going on and by that point our venue may have more information for us - I realize it will be a quick turnaround but everyone got a Save the Date so it shouldn't be a surprise. We don't have a huge guest list, probably 80-100 or so.

We sent our original invitations out for May 9th, and on the change the date card we just sent, we asked everyone to still send back the original response card. Even with postponing the venue/food are all staying the same. All this craziness started just as we got our invitations, so I decided to just send them since we spent so much on them. IF we would have to postpone from July, we probably won't be able to have a reception till next year, and if that's the case I'll just have everyone reconfirm on our website. I've been posting updates there as well. Fingers crossed July will work!! We have around 180 invited.

Hi Jessica! Have you thought about this decision more? It sounds like you have a great backup date, but can definitely also take your time and make a final decision at the end of May!

And don't forget you're not alone right now! Smiley heart You can connect with other July brides facing the same questions in these discussions:

Hey! I am getting married at the Icona in Avalon on July 30th. My contact said they haven't changed any summer weddings. Praying it can still work. I am holding out in hopes that they are able to do something even if it's a 50% capacity. Everyone in my family is being positive saying the shores will open up and things will get better and I hope they are right! Nj might be okay in the south and the longer we social distance the luckier we get in opening by end of July?!

Hey Rachel Icona in cape May has told me the same thing nothing has been cancelled for June or July weddings I’m just nervous because I’m a nurse soon seeing how bad New York got hit where I work. I do think people are distancing to an extent and things are improving. But I’m concerned of a second wave when things are scheduled to re open mid May. I’m also u sure if there will be strict rules on parties and how many people can be at an event I am still staying hopeful and we plan to make our final decision by the end of May and then from there we will either do September or next year. We should keep I touch since we are both having our weddings at Icona ! Hope things get better

Yes! Please keep in touch. I'm hoping they help the shores and open at some extent my wedding is under 150 and I'm sure some would not come but I'd rather go ahead with it then change it. I'm a teacher so the easiest for me is pushing it a whole year and I'd rather not do so!

Hey, we haven't and don't plan to make any decisions yet. They told me to wait until after may 15th but after reading cape may's reopening plan I think it might be okay so I'm waiting it out.
