Coral & Mint Green Wedding, But Mommie Wants To Wear Tan!!!

Mrs. A. Fernandez, on June 10, 2013 at 10:20 AM Posted in Planning 0 20

Hello All. Now, I have already inquired for my mother to wear one of the colors that are apart of the wedding, and she is refusing. She wants to wear a Tan Pantsuit, instead of something pretty, feminine, Mother of The Bride dress-like, and either Coral or Mint Green. I can't take it already. For those that are getting married soon, what did you require your Mommy & Mother in Law to wear? Did you prefer one of the colors that are in your wedding?

I didn't require them to wear anything specific. My dad is wearing a purple tie so my mom went with a purple dress to match. FMIL also chose a purple dress. I would have been okay with anything they wear (they both did send me pictures first and ask if I liked it though).

My mom wore a tan dress & MIL wore a chocolate brown dress. Our colors were Tiffany blue, black, & white. Everyone looked very nice, I promise!

Not requiring anything either. Whatever they look good in and are comfortable in is fine with me!

Our colors are gold, white, and accented with plum. My mom kept insisting she was going to emerald green which would completely clash with my greenish-gold dress. Fortunately none of the shops had anything she liked in emerald. It was divine intervention, I'm sure.

One consultant recommended navy and she went with it.

Matching isn't necessary IMO, but a coordinating color is always nice.

I think anything but white would be great. Most times mothers compliment the colors not clash with them. So she could wear tan. If you want her to wear a dress, does she have one that would be good or can you offer to pay for one?

I rarely see MOB or MOG match the wedding party.

@MJ, I would surely to pay for one for her. I mean, don't get me wrong, tan is a nice color but, if she just wore a color that still complimented the wedding colors, that would be cool. I would be pleased if she would wear maybe a Coral Dress, with a Mint Green something though. IDK, I have time to figure it out.

@Jenn, I love the fact that everyone still added coordination, and they were considerate about asking you your opinion first.

Let her wear tan -- it won't clash.

I told them to wear whatever when they asked, but they (all of our immediate family) insisted on wearing something close to our wedding colors (gray and white...but some are choosing black..which is fine with me).

My colors are slate blue, apricot and yellow. Mom is wearing navy. FMIL is wearing "dark champagne" -- hoping that means tan, but I suppose we'll find out. I've mostly stopped caring.

As long as she's not in white or red or some green that clashes, I think she's probably OK...you don't want her to steal your thunder and you don't want her to clash, but I actually think tan would coordinate well with coral and mint. Maybe see if she'd compromise on the dress, and offer to shop with her?

I let them wear whatever they wanted as long as they felt beautiful. i just went dress shopping with my mom and when she tried on her dress i saw her light up. that's exactly what i wanted. not any sort of color coordination.

my fmil is trying to color coordinate but i told her she didn't have to. i'm sure she'll do it anyway.

my colors are coral and peach. my mom's dress has a bunch of flowers in shades of light pink to burgandy with a white background.

    Huh?

Oh FCS let her wear tan if that is what she wants to wear. I don't understand the idea that a MOB/G has o wear something special or what someone else wants her to or have to somehow match the wedding.

(and there is nothing wrong with not wearing a dress - pants can be feminine and lovely)

My dad is wearing a gray suit with a silver vest with a fuchsia tie...my mom is probably going to go for a color that coordinates with it...

Honestly I did not require my mother in law to wear anything... She has an interesting temper so I let her be. My mother was another cup of tea, she thinks she's the bride sometimes..lol but I let her be as well. My colors are coral ivory and champagne.. she's getting an extravagant dress made... At this point I dont let it bother me. You have to pick your battles. If that's what she feels most comfortable just let it go ya know. As long as she's not grossly inappropriate I say move on to a concern that's worth your stress.

Am I crazy, but doesn't tan actually look good with those colors?? It's a neutral, so it won't clash. And who says a pantsuit can't be 'pretty, feminine, Mother-of-the-Bride" like?? If she's more comfortable in pants, don't force her into a dress. There are tons of feminine, beautiful pantsuits out there. Yes, even in tan. You could always buy her a fun necklace or bracelet in one of your colors, which would go very nicely with the tan Smiley smile

I'm letting ours wear whatever. They are not actors in a play, they are technically guests at my wedding, even if they are helping and walking down the aisle. Our colors are sea blues and greens, and both moms found something in the lavender/purple category. I don't care. They will be comfortable and happy.
