Confused! How does this work?? Who MC'd your wedding?

Do you have a venue? The coordinator at our venue will do that for us.

Hire someone, always. A day of coordinator would help with this, and a DJ can make announcements.

Your DJ should mc' it, but they will work with your venue coordinator or DOC.

My fiancé and I are working through the same issue. We are in talks with Dj's and we are asking them questions about the MC duties. We don't have a traditional coordinator. We have our venue coordinator and a family member to help the day of. I did price coordinator in my area $500-$1000. Dj's are the same for 6.5 hours

Pricing will obviously depend on your area. I'm in central VA, and I found the average for just day of to be $800-$1200. I'm not married yet, but I've heard a good one is worth it!

@Dextor3000 Yea, I will check into that. We will be in VA Beach. So it will probably be a bit too high for us.

@Tara T. I thought about the DJ but after talking with him I dont think hes going to be able to keep focused and make the calls in time and DJ. We will see what family members we can use.

Wait...you don't trust your DJ to stay focused and handle his duties during the wedding? Get a different DJ, stat!

From what I've gathered from talking to my DJ, he is going to do the MCing for the day. I also have a DOC provided by my venue for the reception.

As for the ceremony, we are getting married in our church so the pastor and one of my mom's friends will keep us going. Also, our photographer will take the lead on some things as well.

@Deidre - A venue coordinator is not the same as a DOC at all venues. Mostly a venue coordinator is like a venue manager, so make sure of what her actual responsibilities are on your wedding day.

The DJ does all the announcements and MCing and works with our DOC to move everyone to where they need to be for dinner and stuff.
