Combined bachelor/bachelorette party

Cat, on August 10, 2012 at 3:35 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

My FH and I have basically all or our friends in common... do you think it would be weird if we did a combined party? We are really close and except for a few co-workers we really only have mutual friends... I feel like I would have more fun at a co-ed party! What would you even call that as far as invitations go? Ideas? Do you think we should do separate thing and then have one big party, or just one big one... I'd love for any and all feedback! Thanks SO much!

We had a combined party and we loved it! My bridesmaids and mom threw my shower in the late morning/early afternoon and the guys went golfing. Then we had a big, laid-back party at his dad's house with a bunch of our family and friends. It was a big picnic with tons of food, drinks, and yard games that people played as they wished. Everyone had a ton of fun!

Some call it a Jack & Jill party. It's what we are doing, sans the fund raising aspect. Just having friends over for drinks and snacks. =)

We're having a co-ed wedding shower. I'd do a combined bachelorette as well, but the boys schedules are somewhat difficult to work with, so I told my MOH not to worry about it too much. I say go for it! And calling it a Jack & Jill should be fine.

I see this a lot actually. My best friend and her now husband did it. Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro did it haha (that was a long time again, with a lot of strippers lol). Not weird at all! Go for it!

We would have that if most of our friends and family didn't have kids. We are having seperate cause it is easier for everyone. While the girls go out one night the guys are watching the kids and when the guys go out the girls are going to watch the kids. FH said he don't want to hear from me that night cause he just wants me to hang out with my girls and have fun.

I've seen this done quite often as well. Have you guys had an engagement party? You could just call it that, or a Jack and Jill.

You could do a dinner with your girls and then go to the joined party?

If you think that a joined party would be more fun do it, but you'll be having joined parties the rest of your life why not enjoy aa girls night out

It depends on what your festivities entail and if you're comfortable with it. Personally, I'd rather do my own thing with my girls! The FH and I hang out enough so I really want to do something special with my friends... have a sex toy party, drink and be marry. If you guys are fine with it though I don't see why it would be a bad idea.

We were having some issues with the seperate party idea since 2 of his 'groomsmen' are actually women. So we combined our parties. We are going to go to an awesome rib place... Then to a local bowling alley. Those of our friends who drink can partake in whatever they like and those of us who don't drink won't feel the pressure of others since we will have other non-drinkers around. Smiley smile It should be good fun!

What does your FH think? I know mine wanted his own party and wouldn't be caught dead at a joint party.

I think that's just a personal preference. My Brother and SIL had theirs joint but FH and I did our seperate.

I say if you both like the idea...go for it! At one of the last bach parties I went to, we met up in the afternoon at a hotel in the area that has a ton of waterslides. We played by the pool for awhile and then split into the mens and womens group. We had a blast!

Thanks everyone! I like 'Jack and Jill' party! I think thats what we are going to do... it just seems easier than trying to divide up the friends!
