Coffee at reception?

Nikki, on September 15, 2011 at 3:34 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 20

I'm having a evening wedding and on all of my catering proposals they have included coffee. Do you think people would drink coffee at night?

Personally I do not drink coffee but yes coffee and tea are always a hit at weddings. Start serving it with the cake, your guests will appreciate it.

We're actually doing a coffee, tea, hot chocolate to-go bar along with our favors, homemade cookies. I'm going to make a sign that says, "Something hot... Something sweet... For the road."

Yep! We drink coffee at night, and love it with cake. I love the idea of a coffee, tea and hot chocolate to-go bar.

I'm not a coffee person but almost always have a cup of tea with dessert. I would definitely have some hot beverages on hand after dinner.

What is dessert without coffee?? - at least for us die-hard java junkies. Seriously, most people expect a choice of coffee or tea with their cake. It's also a good thing to have if your guests have spent the reception imbibing. You caterer will probably offer decaf as well as regular for those concerned about drinking coffee at night.

While I prefer tea with dessert, we are having a coffee with assorted flavored creamers and different herbal teas to go with our wedding cake and pastry tabel.

At my daughter's wedding, in August 2012, as part of her all inclusive package at her venue, the coffee bar is a big thing. It includes: Fresh brewed Coffee, decaffeinated coffee, espresso, cappucino, and a Selection of Herbal Teas served on our beautifully dressed Coffee Bar. The Bar also includes Fresh Whipped,Cream, Lemon Rinds, Shaved Chocolate, Non-Alcoholic,Flavored Syrups, Cinnamon

    and Nutmeg.

Not me, I don't like coffee but I know it's popular to drink with dessert

Also there are people that drink it all day long, every day, no matter what they are eating. My FH, and his dad(FFIL) love coffee, they could drink that stuff all day long. I know we will definitely have coffee at our reception, for dinner and dessert.

I think that tradition came from the concept of coffee helping people perk up or sober up enough for the journey home. It's also a very popular drink, so it will appeal to a large number of guests.

I think so I know a lot of the elderly crowd like the grandmothers will drink it to try and stay up or my mom and aunt like coffee with dessert. And like Jouselle said to maybe sober up too before going home, especially for those who have a long drive, we will have some coffee cups to go.

I personally don't drink coffee and I know the younger people will prefer another drink or five over a coffee, but I know the older crowd will very much appreciate it! I wouldn't go past it - it seems to be an essential!
