Cigars. Tacky?

Ashley & Steve, on July 19, 2013 at 9:35 AM Posted in Planning 0 13

A bridesmaid suggested having cigars for the BP & Parents to enjoy with a drink before the ceremony. She mentioned that it would be a fun way to relax and could make for a fun photo op. I like the idea then again I am not sure. Is this tacky?

I think a woman always looks tacky with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth, AND do you really want to smell like smoke for your ceremony, or have cigar breath when you kiss your groom? What about those that don't smoke?

I enjoy a cigar every once in awhile, but I wouldn't do it before the ceremony. It causes cigar breath & everyone will smell like smoke. Maybe do it the night before at the rehearsal dinner?

Update - She wants Chocolate Flavored Cigars. Not sure if that changes the smell or not.

I gave DH, his groomsmen and my Dad cigars to enjoy later on in the evening at the reception, after dinner and such. But they were the skinny ones and I don't mind the smell of them.

I like the idea of reception or rehearsal. Personally, I HATE the smell and wouldn't want my FH smelling like cigar all day.

FH bought a box of cigars for his little brother's wedding a couple months ago. a group of the guys enjoyed them at the reception. got some GREAT photos. it definitely depends on people's tastes... but a lot of the guys thought it was a great idea.

Ugh i loathe the word tacky.

My FH and his groomsmen will be having cigars before the ceremony for some super awesome photo ops. The smoke in the air gives a super cool effect and Fh likes his occassional cigar. I don't think the GM will really be smoking them though and it will be brief because of the smell and what not.

I will be doing that sort of but with a cigarette, similar to our e-pics with my cigarette holder and my scotch. I won't be the bride walking around smoking though. I do think it can make good photos and you don't even have to have them lit.

I personally wouldn't want the smell on my and the wedding party before everything got started. I agree with a lot of the other posts that it might be fun at the rehearsal if it's something you enjoy. Definitely have someone take a few pictures!
