Choosing Between a Wedding Planner and the Venue's Wedding Team for a Destination Wedding in Cancun, Mexico (2024)

I’m doing a destination venue that includes a planning team, so going into this whole process I was very excited about being able to save money by not needing to get a planner or coordinator. Then I very quickly changed my mind and went and found my own person haha. Maybe read the reviews for your venue, but generally speaking the venue-employed planners are just there to manage the vendors also employed by that venue and to enforce the venue’s policies/assist with venue-specific requests. If you’re using any outside vendors, want assistance with personal items (like vow books and programs), and just generally taking care of you personally as opposed to the venue, definitely consider at least getting a day of coordinator!

I will definitely read reviews to understand any potential pros and cons and to get a good idea of what to expect. I'm looking for a team that is dedicated to taking care of all the logistics, so I don't have to handle any parts of it myself along with the venue team. Your tip to read reviews is much appreciated!
