Chipotle for Catering?

Kylie, on September 8, 2016 at 4:09 PM

My fiance and I both love chipotle and he really wants them to cater our wedding. I am not opposed to it because I also love chipoltle but I'm wondering what our guests will think. We're also going to have a candy and desert bar with cupcakes and cookies but I just wanted other opinions.

I do love me some guac on a burrito bowl but maybe for a rehearsal dinner... Not a wedding. There are plenty of affordable caterers that serve a little more upscale meals.

Hmmm, I don't know..it's a fun idea but not everyone likes Chipotle, and it is considered more a fast food which many don't eat. People are coming as guests to celebrate you and FH big day I think a different option would be the way to go.

If Chipotle is what you and your fiance` like and wanna serve, then go for it!! My fiance` and I love Olive Garden, so after our intimate wedding, we're taking our small gathering there.

I love chipotle despite the ecoli scare. We're thinking of doing it for our rehearsal dinner because we have our venue from friday-sunday so theres no point going out to dinner

Just another thing to consider- you'll need a way to keep the food warm since Chipotle doesn't do delivery. A full catering service will provide you with the chafers to keep the food warm until dinner time. If you do Chiptle, who is going to go get the food and how are you going to guarantee that it will stay warm? Someone will literally have to leave your wedding at dinner time to go get the food. Actually multiple people will have to leave to get food for 60. A wedding caterer is going to be more expensive, but you'll also get the full service.

We're having a small wedding and doing a soup and bread buffet with some home-cooked food. I don't see why Chipotle wouldn't work! Smiley smile

Another vote for Chipotle! As a guest, I would be STOKED to have that as a meal, plus you can drink more because it absorbs so much of the alcohol Smiley winking. Sure beats crappy mashed potatoes and dry meat.

I have looked into Chipotle catering before and as others have said, they do not deliver. Not sure if you could hire outside hands to help set up, serve, and clean up, but it's something to look into. Another option is to look for a Mexican restaurant that caters. At my wedding, we had tacos (and sides) and they cooked it right in front of you. People still rave about it!

I love chipotle..am a huge fan. But don't necessarily agree with it being an actual choice for the sit down dinner. I would find another place that does not cater fast food or have family cook dishes and make it look catered.

We are using a local caterer and having a pizza, salad, pasta, bread bar. If it is what you both enjoy, do it!! FH and I went to a wedding a few weeks ago and we had chicken, potatoes and veggies... FH said to me "I'm glad we are being different and getting something we want rather than the same ole thing, ugh". I'd be happy to go to a wedding that steers away from the same meal as every other wedding. Smiley smile

Chipotle for the late night snack sounds amazing. But for dinner, I wouldn't want the same $7 burrito bowl I get on a lazy Tuesday night. It's delicious, but opposite of special. Drunken food, hell yes. Wedding dinner, not so much. Look for an actual Mexican restaurant instead.

Moe's. You should have Moe's cater. I'd show up and show out for Moe's.

I personally don't like Mexican food. So I think like other people have said you would have to have a second option. You would probably have a decent amount if guests sitting around starving becayse they don't eat the food.

I've never had Chipotle personally. I don't necessarily think there's anything wrong with having it at your wedding, but again... never had it, so not exactly a fair judge. As for it being fast food, I personally wouldn't chose it as a main meal, but instead as something to potentially add to a midnight table. We're doing that but with McDonald's, it'll be one of the options on the midnight table.

I wouldn't have chipotle at a wedding. If you/him want it that bad, swing by and get it after the ceremony.

Since Chipotle is a little polarizing and some people would consider it "cheap" (not me, but based on the comments here), why don't you have Chipotle for the rehearsal dinner instead, maybe with another option for those who hate it.

They don't deliver. so not only would you be paying for their catering services, OP, but you'd also have to hire the properly trained staff to keep the food warm, serve the food, set-up/clean-up, etc. Also, I'm assuming you'd have to purchase the plates, silverware, napkins, and drinking glasses.

I'd rather spend the same amount of money for a caterer that provides all that than one that makes ME go the extra mile to make sure no one gets sick and get eat the food on their own plate.

I know you said you and your husband love Chipotle, so by all means, go for it! But please do it properly and safely.

Just go with an actual caterer please. Chipotle is even okay for a rehearsal dinner maybe but not a wedding.
