I have my grandmother's and mother' china and I use it probably once per year. I use crystal more often and I'm glad (the first time) I registered for Waterford. They are hard to break and their pattern are never discontinued. Second time around, I am not registering at all.

We did. We used my grandmother's China for holiday dinners growing up and had it not broken I would have gotten it. It is something that is special to my family and I plan to keep the tradition. I'm also the epitome of southern Belle hospitality so even now when we entertain we use our nicer plateware (unless of course it's like a flip cup and beer pong kind of night. Then it's solo cups all the way).

We will probably register for a set a little nicer than what we have now, but nothing super fancy. I love entertaining, and will need something that serves more than our current 4 corelle plates Smiley smile Do whatever you think will fit best into your life and your home.

I hav my parents china and silver (they have the same pattern and the crystal does as well, although in this photo I am using my crystal).

My mother bought me a set of china and silver when I was still in grade school, so I never needed to obtain any.

This photo is from the bridesmaid luncheon that I put on for my daughter.

I'm pretty sure we won't. I definitely don't see us using them. If you'll actually use them, I say go for it, but if you're like FH and I, it's just going to collect dust somewhere.

I did- my mother said that I can use fine china when hosting holidays or dinner parties with friends. We also registered for everyday china as well. We need a new set of plates.

My FH has a lot of fond memories associated with his family's formal china and he wants us to have our own set. Since we entertain regularly, I'll go along with this and break out the china for special occasions.....as long as it's dishwasher safe!

We did, and it was one of the first items purchased off of our list.

We don't entertain a ton right now, but I hope to. We are also hosting family holidays this year. Ours is machine washable and had a great price. Supposedly it's very durable. It came as a complete 8 person set, with a serving platter and vegetable dish.

I haven't registered yet, but when I do I am not putting fine china on there. Just new Corelle plates.

We registered for some because we do throw a lot of dinner parties and I thought it would be a fun thing to have that we would use. We have in fact used them about 3 or 4 times already and the wedding was less than 6 months ago. My husband is not a fan of colors on dinner plates (he thinks it takes away from the art that is the food- he really should be a chef) so we compromised with Lennox plates with a raised ivy pattern but that are still all-white. They are apparently dishwasher friendly, but I haven't risked it, yet. They're on the less expensive side as far as china goes and the pattern goes with everything. I plan to keep adding to what we got for the wedding over birthdays and Christmases but we've got a good start! Bottom line, if you think you'd use them, go for it, if not opt for something you'd really use.

We will be registering for a full set of nice plates, bowls, and serving dishes. Not fancy silverware or crystal though. We love to host and I would like a nice set that matches for holidays and parties, but we're not asking for the really fancy delicate kind -- we want the kind that can go in the dishwasher! I hope to someday inherit my mother's or my grandmothers "fine" china and crystal.
