Not china, but we did do a nice set of dinnerware out of the formal section. It's pretty basic, but can be washed in the dishwasher. You should speak with a knowledgeable rep. They can help you with the different types.

Depends on how much you entertain. My family loves to entertain and uses it regularly. I just had my first Christmas party and when they saw the dishes and things I was using they brought over the China so in my case yes I will register for China because I do intend on hosting all of the holidays I can handle and just formal dinners because it's sort of expected and I do enjoy it as does FH. They are hosting my shower and have given me a general list of hostess needs that I should register for like cloth napkins and such because apparently paper isn't acceptable lmao. Who would have thought. So it all depends on your style and usage (: but my aunt just bought me a beautiful plain white set of dishes from jc penny that I love! If your talking about everyday dishes I suggest something that goes with everything! But don't register for things you won't use or don't need!

No. We did register for a very, very nice set of every day dishes though. My sister just sold all her china from her first marriage that she never uses.

No way, my kids think any plate that cost over $2 needs to be dropped on the floor we have plastic in our home only until they are a little older

No. Very rarely do I have anyone at my house. We have a set of dishes that is nice and didn't see a point for a fancier set.

We did not. My mom told me that I will inherit her set.

The lady at BBB was super pushy about the china when we were registering. Basically she said that if we don't register for it then an older relative will buy it for us and pick their own pattern. I know my guests and I know that won't happen. She was pretty pushy about everything expensive actually.

I did! It's my favorite thing on my registry and I hope I get service for 20. It's Lennox, dishwasher safe, and super hard to break.

If you do register for China, just make sure it fits your lifestyle. Mine is something we could pull out for Christmas dinner, casual Sunday brunch, or for a weeknight dinner.

Nope. It's pretty and all but I have a bunch of China from my grandma that's been sitting in a box for the last 10 years. If I don't even use that I doubt I'll use my own. We did register for everyday dishes from crate and barrel though.

I did and I'm excited for it! Although impractical, china is so pretty! I plan to use it whenever I host a family gathering, even casual. I also registered for a storage container so I can put it all away compactly...

We didn't either, DH and I wanted more practical gifts. Plus, MIL has about 20+ sets of china that she wants to pass on to us in the future.

We registered for some dishes at Target, but we didn't register for a "fine china" set. I hope someday to get my mother's (it's a super classic pattern) and I just don't have room for two sets!

Some of my fondest childhood memories are decorating my grandma's house for parties and being given the honor of pulling out and setting the table with her china. Maybe it is the sap in me, but those memories alone convinced me that I want to own a set or two of china. I love the formality it brings and how special it makes an occasion appear, so I definitely will be registering for china.

My FH thinks china is stupid. He and I have agreed to disagree on this one Smiley smile

We did! We love hosting, and there are some gorgeous patterns out there that blend modern and old-school feel. I have a set of Crate and Barrel everyday dishes that I love, so we weren't originally planning on doing any china, but in the end we decided that it's something we would enjoy having but be unlikely to buy for ourselves and something that our older guests might particularly like to give.

We aren't, but we're inheriting two sets. I'll be honest though: even if we weren't inheriting the sets, I wouldn't register for it. I don't host formal dinners and don't think I ever will. If I did, I can see how it would be a really nice touch.

I registered for china because...... well now that I think about it, I don't really know what I would do with good china. I wonder if I should take it off, seeing all these other posts. Ho-hum. Something to think about.

No china for us. We find no need for it.

We did not, but I'm also getting like 5 china patterns from my parents so we already will have wayyy too much fine china Smiley smile

I've seen a few friends register for china, but I'd say less than 10% of my friends!

Yes! I love hosting formal dinners and am very excited to use my china. That being said, you should only register for what you want and need. Don't let anyone influence you on an item you don't want.
