I am including a small separate enclosure card in the invitations of the few families whose children are invited (family and the flower girl/her brother). They are strictly to inform them that we are providing a childrens meal so that we dont have to add a meal option to all 65 RSVP cards. Would it ve okay to just say 'A childrens meal of Chicken Fingers and fries will be provided'. Or should it say something different?

Definitely ridiculous, but I wasn't the one who made the original argument. I was responding to a sarcastic claim by Orchids that perhaps they was being unfair to their friend by not offering the vegan friend a steak. I was merely pointing out that if that friend asked for a steak they wouldn't refuse to provide it. Offering something does not automatically mean that the person being offered will want that thing. (Virtually) all vegans, when offered the choice between a meat option and a vegan option will select the one without animal products. Many children, when offered the choice between a gourmet meal and chicken fingers will select the chicken fingers. But in both cases there is a choice offered, and the hosts would not refuse to provide the less-expected choice if that was what the guest truly wanted.

My caterer is allowing us to give the children a choice of a few different kid meals. We will have 4 kids total at the wedding (close family only). I plan to reach out the 2 sets of parents individually and asking them. I would not be paying $100pp for the kids to have adult meals when the venue cost is $17.

I won't even spend $45+ on a plate out at a restaurant for myself (it has to be a really special occasion for that to happen) so why the fuck should I expect someone to spend that much or more on a plate for my kid? That's dumb as fuck.

My kid can have chicken tenders. I was raised like others here...you eat what's put in front of you because to complain about a meal that someone else has given you is rude.

    No one agrees with me?

A.L. posted the very first response to this thread saying essentially what I have been saying, and her statement is identified as a "good post."

The second post also agrees. The fifth post also agrees. Post #6 is A.L again, with stronger language against forcing a certain meal on younger guests. Post #9 advocates for giving parents the choice. Post #10 calls out the rudeness of restricting choice regardless of age. Post #12 speaks of giving kids options including the adult meal. #15 suggests more choices. #16 suggests multiple options for kids, although advocating against offering the adult meal. #18 speaks of giving kids the same food as everyone else. And that is just the first page.

    Nope, no one agrees.

I'm confused how this thread is going still. Kids don't need adult portions, just appropriately sized portions of whatever food options at the child rate. That being said, I just thought I'd share what my venue cost for children is and how it's not that much different for chicken fingers vs buffet, both are Kid meals and appropriately sized...a 4 year old can have fries and an 11 year old can have chicken marsala. I have a 12 and 13 year old who will have adult sized meal because they don't fall in this category.

When people use "good post" as an argument I basically just disregard anything else they say.

A.L. agreeing with me is not something I'd be proud of...

Keeping track of what everyone posts sounds S.A.F.

When the argument is "no one agrees with you," it is an appropriate counterpoint. Obviously at least 7 people agree with me (the person who posted that statement plus six other distinct likes--I was #7). It doesn't automatically make me right, but it does disprove the idea that "no one" feels the way I do.

StPaul- at least 3 of those comments are all from A.L. and I'm not going to waste time to look and see if she wrote any of the other comments you mentioned. Also, two more of those mentioned are speaking of giving more kids meal options which is still a kids meal. So at least half of those points are also invalid.

Giggling at the fact that SPG was so thirsty she went to look through a post with almost 200 comments to find the handful that agree with her...

I also disagree that the adult option will be much healthier than chicken tenders and fries. Most wedding meals I've been served definitely would not count as "healthy." Even if you have some healthier options, the quantity of food served is generally higher than what would be recommended for one sitting. However, that doesn't matter because it's a wedding and people will survive not eating the most healthy meal on one day.

This was so entertaining. And now I'm so craving chicken tenders.

Funny thing is I really wasn't asking if ONLY offering chicken tenders and fries was okay...

Only if my plan of informing them was....

Part of me wants to make this thread read only...But I'm kind of enjoying laughing at the ridiculousness!!

@StPaul you must be fun at parties....

This is what happens when you are deprived of chicken fingers during childhood.
