Is ANYONE having a < 2,000 wedding??? Has anyone bought a dress that is not from a bridal shop? Like under $200? Lol. I want something beautifully simple and if i'm only gonna wear it once i might as well make it cheap! I was thinking of getting a white flowy dress and tie dying the bottom of it...

I was thinking of getting a white flowy dress and tie dying the bottom of it so that its got our wedding colors watercolored at the bottom.

Please tell me I'm not the only one doing a cheap wedding? Its going to be pretty small and its only ONE day of my whole life. I just need it to go beautifully not cost a lot.

My best friend got married for less than $2,000. She bought a white prom dress (I think it was used, but not sure) for $150. I know some brides on here have found dresses on Etsy, Amazon, Lulu's and some used bridal gown websites for cheap!

Thanks everyone for your replies. I was mostly wondering if ANYONE had a budget that small, but i know its definitely doable. I didnt want a bridal shop dress for its cost + distance from me but I did not know about bridal shop cosignments or even there being clearance dresses as low as $200. I appreciate all your help!

My budget is super cheap. Max is 5K but right now I'm in the 2K range for a wedding with 100 guests. Look at the bridesmaids dresses at davids bridal. They can be ordered in white or ivory (or whatever color suits your fancy).

We hosted 50-ish people for a lunch buffet (which included alcohol but not a lot as it was, well, noon, lol! Our whole budget was $2500 and it was awesome. Just an fyi: Usually the dress, rings, hair and makeup, and honeymoon are not factored into the budget as those things do not affect the care and comfort of your guests.

    Again, YOU GOT THIS GIRL!

You can go on ebay etc to find some cheaper options but I would say take the opportunity to be creative. My friend's wedding we're all doing like a cosplay kind of thing, decking out like a princess with matching gloves. Let your wedding gown be you. And you can make it look even more stunning with accessories. I mentioned gloves, but you can also find a cute headband, necklace, bracelet online that won't kill your budget.

Try Poshmark, consignment shops, and the sale rack and bridal salons-- you'd be surprised with what you find and how accessories can jazz a dress up! There's a bunch of websites that sell pre-owned wedding dresses, too! The challenge with buying an altered dress is that it may cost more to get it altered than altering one purchased at the store-- everyone's body shape is different and the same dress looks different on everyone, too!

I would say try David's Bridal. I went in saying I would only spend $300 on a dress and they had so many cute choices that I would have went with if it wasn't for my Nana bawling her eyes out when I put on a "hey just for kicks" try on - she ended up splitting the bill with me on my dress so I stayed within budget, but I would say I tried on 6 dresses under $300 that I liked, don't underestimate the chain places. They also do payment plans, alter, cleaning, etc and do discounts on those services if you buy from them Smiley smile

Azazie has some lovely wedding dresses for cheap/ cheaper and many of them have an option to try them on at home before you buy, since I think you said you don't have bridal stores near you.
I'm having a small Smiley heart0 people reception after our elopement and we've budgeted $5000 to be generous. I don't think we'll spend that much.

This is me, you're definitely not alone but I certainly remember feeling that way when I went shopping and most dresses were around $500! I felt the same way about the dress as you, wanting it to be nice but not wanting to spend an arm and a leg on a dress worn for one day. I 100% recommend looking at consignment shops. I followed one on facebook to keep track of when they had sales. I went one day they had a 65% off sale and the consignment price was $500, but after the 65% off, I took the dress home for $180! I also recommend not stressing about it. I definitely did, but it's very possible to get a beautiful dress for under $200!
