I had to google what a charger was Smiley tongue

I agree with Shannon that in the confusion your guests might start eating off of them if like me they don't know what they are.

On the other hand I don't understand why if Carole is having a buffet and Lizzie is having a buffet too, Carole can use chargers and Lizzie can't.

Lizzie - I know your not having a backyard BBQ wedding. But I just wanted to say that I've been to bike week before and I think a backyard wedding even if it had BBQ is classier and better over all than something like that.

Did I miss something? I didn't thnk Carole's comment was inappropriate.

She was simply agreeing with a previous post and mentioned that she has had a buffet in the past without chargers and now this buffet will have them.

    *sigh*

Hmm... I'm having a buffet and I wanted chargers to complete the look of the table. I believe we are having our salad course served to our guests before the buffet for the main course starts so it made sense to me to have a charger under the salad plate, then have the salad plate removed as guests finish and they set their dinner plate on the charger. I may get chargers either way, b/c I really like them =).

Oh and to the OP, as the others have said it's more for decoration or too add some elegance for sit down dinners. We're doing a lunch buffet. Good luck with the planning! Smiley smile

@sailingnurseMD: She called another bride's buffet reception (w/out chargers) a backyard BBQ in a very snippity manner then added her signature b!tch emoticon Smiley winking

Bitchasaurus, nah, I'm implying that all wedding guests, everywhere, are not very bright. Hence all the herding and planning that we have to do.

Chargers can also be used as place setting savers (sounds like that is how Carole B is using them). I agree that using them for your guests during a buffet may just be confusing.

@ Sailingnurse MD, I think what you missed is the fact that she assumed that since Lizzie is having a backyard wedding therefore she is having a backyard BBQ, which is a wrong assumption. But maybe she has an excuse to why she assumed backyard wedding= BBQ.

I am so confused as to what happened to the progression of this thread.

But on the original note, who cares- have them or don't, buffet or not. I'm having a sit down dinner and if the venue doesn't supply chargers I won't have them because I don't want to pay extra for a decorative plate.

Again, interpreting snippitiness from text begets even more drama..last time I'll say that since it's pointless...

@Edith, I noticed a few exchanges between those two on another thread that surprised me, none of my business but maybe something did happen behind the scenes. oh well.

While chargers are not necessary they sure do make an impact on your table decor. If you fit them into your budget I would make the splurge.

I'm not sure where you are located but if you are in Southern California we are running a summer promotion where are charger plates are renting for $.65ea. They normally rent for $2.25ea!

We are located in Long Beach

I love the idea of using chargers but after reading they aren't necessary for a buffet...I will have to rethink using them. I'm getting married in the grand ballroom of a hotel though...I'm torn...we will have servers...
