Changing the wedding location after Save the Dates are out

alyssa, on August 2, 2017 at 5:36 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 16

I was originally going to have a destination wedding in Bermuda, but because of some recent family situations and medical reasons for some important guests we wanted to include, I am moving my wedding to New Hampshire. The problem being that I already have sent out save the dates! My fiance said we could find new save the dates saying "Detour!" with new information. I cannot find any detour save the dates.

Any suggestions?

Additional information: The wedding in bermuda was verified and booked, but everything was refundable. We never anticipated this happening. No guests have booked anything yet.

Part of me thinks the "detour" idea is cute. Another part of me says save the money and just contact everyone via email with the new plan.

I believe you can hire someone to design customer save the dates. Otherwise I would just call everyone. How many people did you send them to? Can you prevent people from booking somehow, like if they all have to go through a specific agent? I would really try to communicate the change ASAP.

You have plenty of time before your wedding so I say go for another round of STD. I like detour idea.

We had a group coordinator for our booking needs with the information on our website. All the information is taken down, explaining what has happened as well as contacted the agent, who was completely understanding, who told us he would redirect everyone to check the website for the changes before proceeding.

I would send out email asap, then follow up with detour if you want. How do you know no one booked a flight?

If it's affordable, I would do the cute detour idea! If not, I would either call or send out a quick email!

Because we had special deals that were listed on the website with our own travel agent. It has only been a month since the old save the dates have been out. Also, no one has RSVPd in doing, which it also lists on the site to do after booking.

You need to tell people yourself, not send a cute STD. Call people immediately before people ask for vacation time from work and/or get flights.

When we decided to cancel our wedding plans and elope, we sent out a letter to all the guest we sent save the dates too. It seemed much more personal that way. I do like the detour idea for your situation.

It's cute how you think people always follow directions. Call your people and let them know.

You can design, vistaprint can. Use the original Save the date with a detour sign and new location bolder. It would be cute.

I would call people asap, then send the detour STD's.

If you're going to have change your date, I would push out to later date to give guests time you adjust to your plans.

I wouldn't really bother sending out another round of STDs. Just call/text/email/carrier pigeon everyone and let them know it's no longer a destination and the new information will be available on your wedding website or on the invites.
