Change out of bridemaid's dress after dinner?

I am the MOH in an upcoming wedding. I tried on the dress today (just received) and it is just awful! I am the MOH in an upcoming wedding. I tried on the dress today (just received) and it is just awful! Not in the typical way that all bridesmaids dresses are awful (that I wouldn't care about and was expecting that). It's awful in the way that it shows everything! It's a dress that is made of satin jersey so it shows every little bump. I am thin so it's not a weight thing. The big issue is really my big boobs. This is one of those dresses that is supposed to be able to be worn in many different ways but none of the ways allow me to wear a bra of any kind. It is backless and very low cut. The material is extremely thin and my nipples are on full display, no matter how I have tried to wrap it. The best way would be strapless but with the way the dress is made, my large breasts, and the material it just didn't stay and I would be fussing with it the whole time. Other ways show major cleavage or major sideboob. None of which are appropriate for a wedding IMO, or anywhere outside my bedroom

I would definitely let her see you in the dress, your concerns are real concerns and once she sees you she will understand that. I agree with above too that since you are MOH maybe she will be willing to let you wear a different dress

How do the other girls feel about this dress? I think a body suit would be your best bet. Also I think having the seamstress secure it into your chosen style is a good idea. What sucks about those dresses is they have no structure. At least traditional strapless dresses have boning. I would bump this thread tomorrow when more people are on here. I'm sure a bunch of them have worn a dress like this they may have more options.

I saw some $250 convertible dresses when I was looking, and I thought those were crazy! We're using convertible dresses, but it sounds like ours are a different fabric. So a couple of options... Take a picture of yourself in the dress and show the bride. Keep searching for an appropriate undergarment (I feel like I have seen something from spanx that should work). I would call the bride instead of texting. On the phone, she'll be able to hear that you're apologetic and want to find something that'll work. And yes, post a pic if you're comfortable doing so. Some of us might have some ideas!

I'm really sorry, I have no advice and think your concerns are totally valid, but am hoping this will at least make you laugh about the situation a little...

@jenny c Haha yes I do have a sense of humor about everything in life so that did make me laugh. Again thanks for all your responses. As far as another dress I guess it's a possibility but I really don't want to stress her out with that decision this late in the game as I'm more than willing to just "make it work". Plus I think I can manage to deal through ceremony, photos and dinner since I won't be moving a whole lot but I'm more concerned about the dancing. I love to get down at weddings! My husband and I bought some cloth medical tape we are going to try to see what can be done. So I am including pictures. I didn't photograph it when originally tried it on so it does seem to show a bit of a different color in photos, which is good news! I'll also get a spray tan so there's more of a contrast between my skin and the dress. I have included photos of the ways that I believe will give me the best coverage using just the fabric given. I've also attached photos with the silicone nipple cover so you can see what I'm talking about with the puffy nipple thing. @jeleebeenz you are so right about these dresses and yes @MNbride the lack of structure in this dress is a huge problem. I'm going to try a bodysuit and some of my other ideas for solutions and hopefully you guys can tell me what looks best. I am a bit reluctant to really alter the dress in anyway with a seamstress. I guess part of the selling point of these dresses is that they don't need alterations and can be tied to fit anyone. Which really is true but for the weird fabric. I would like to sell this dress since it was so pricey and will never wear it again. I know that any permanent alterations may hurt my chances of resale and I hate storing crap in my closet I'll never wear again. I'm also about $1200 in to this wedding so far with bridal shower, dress and bachelorette and I'm not really looking to add any extra cost if I can avoid it.

Ok so here are more photos. I tried the strapless thinking since I can wrap it multiple times it would offer the best coverage but the material is very slippery so it looks a little tortured and slides around the bit. There were a couple of other ways I tried that seemed to be better than others and offer more coverage but none completely covered my nipples. I took these photos in dimmer light than the wedding photos and wedding will be in. The photos will be taken around 1-3 in the afternoon and the wedding is at 4 pm. My concern is that with other lighting, flash etc. it will show more than I can see with the naked eye. When I originally tried on the dress I tried it on in a room with the lighting that will be most similar to the wedding day conditions and it was more see through than this.

Here is what I'm thinking may be the best way to wrap it but it doesn't really want to stay tied at the back because the material is slippery and it's pretty tight Hera are also a couple of my thoughts on solutions.

More photos and ways to wrap, strapless, also my left breast (breast on the right in photo) has a silicone nipple cover.

If it's got a lot of slip I'd invest on safety pins and pin the shit out of it.

Also.ps. Tan/nude/biscotte colors are horrible. What was she thinking?

Upside. It's not as tragic as you think. It's totally manageable with someone else helping pin you in. I'd get a slip and call it a day.

Yikes. The fabric looks awful and so hard to deal with. Can the company really not rush order you a bandeau? Would that be less expensive than a body suit? The real issue is the side boob and nip.

Yeah, that's a really tricky dress. Has your friend seen the photos? It's not tragic at all, and the colour photographs well. You'll have to pin it.

I would 100% not be offended if you changed into something safer for dancing. If she objects, she's being a jerk.

@KDS haha it is. Well they are closed today and I tried to call yesterday with no luck. I went to their website and they didn't even have an option for it but others did that carry that dress but they say it can't be ordered on it's own. I am going to try to call tomorrow and see what can be arranged. Maybe they even have one they use in store for trying on dresses. Hopefully with that and some tape it will provide enough of a solution. I'm also hoping the bandeau is more than one layer thick since this fabric is so thin. I'm not sure if you can tell from the photos but in some of these I have three layers of the fabric running across my boobs and it still doesn't seem to provide much in the way of coverage. Plus my nipples are not even hard in these photos, god forbid I catch a chill. LOL

@JoRocka the only way I could wear a slip is if I wore it strapless with a strapless slip but strapless seems like the hardest way to tie it and have it stay up and is also the way it slides the most. A traditional slip won't work because it needs to be halter and low cut, so the straps won't show in the back and the a slip won't show in the front. That's why I thought the bodysuit might be the best bet. We'll see how it plays out and what I can accomplish.

Jeleebeenz - FWIW, not all convertible dresses are bad. My sister is wearing a convertible Jenny Yoo gown and it has great structure and is very forgiving. If we're talking a single layer, jersey fabric convertible gown, then yea.. it can be a problem.

I would say to really talk to your friend. It sounds like you are really trying everything possible to make this dress work for your friends wedding. Personally though, from how you are describing it I wouldn't want my bridesmaids or MOH to look uncomfortable much less FEEL uncomfortable through the ceremony and pictures. You're the MOH maybe you can wear a different style dress that's more suitable for you. I know it's cutting it close though. Also maybe take it to a seamstress and see what can be done to suit your body and cover all needed

To be brutally honest that is one ugly dress and I feel your pain. I agree with other PP's that you're doing everything imaginable to make this work for the bride, just be honest with her and tell her how uncomfortable you feel and like others have said you're probably not the only one feeling this way.

I really really hope for your sake that the bride allows you to change the dress! Good luck

Oops you posted as I typed.

Do you above any that show the back? I'm thinking a halter bar or padded halter swimsuit but unsure of the back.

Although I did notice the nipples, I didn't think it was that bad until I saw the side boob. As someone else with big boobs, I'd be totally self-conscious. Show her those photos!

DEFINITELY send her a picture of you in the dress!!! Full nips on display, so she can see what it will look like! That dress is definitely just one wrong move away from a wardrobe malfunction.
