Ceremony Structure

Makalia, on January 29, 2020 at 12:07 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 1 8
My wedding is quickly approaching (35 days!) and I can’t seem to get a ceremony structure figure out. Our minister has left it up to us and I know I at least want the following components (along with all of the welcoming, presentation of couple, etc)

VowsRing vowsUnity ceremony Declaration of intent (I do’s)Kiss
Any thoughts on how best to order these events???
Thank you!

Another thing you can do is just look up templates and see what best fits what you want.

You can really do it any way you prefer. We didn’t do a unity ceremony and we also had a few extra things since we’re Jewish lol but I’ll give you what we did:

    Ours is this:

Officiant Intro and Welcome and Thank You to Guests / A Remembrance of Those Who Can't Be There and Moment of Silence / The Speech / Asking Us If We Agree To The Speech / The Vows / The Question (I Do, Me Too) / The Rings / A Closing Poem / Pronouncement

The original drafts we received from our officiant came all different ways. Some came without vows, some came with no ring exchange. We had to kind of piece a few different ceremonies together to get what we wanted.

You did the hard part - you decided what you need! I didn't care about "Does anyone object" but I had very strong feelings about being asked a question and not just reciting vows. It was important for me to hear "Will you take me to be your husband" or something along those lines. It was also important to me to have the traditional "With this ring, I thee wed" line thrown in there because I think it's cute. LOL. Nothing else really mattered to me. It's easier to decide what you want and then work everything around that!

I agree with ALL parts in your last paragraph!! I really wanted the “I do’s” to come right before the kiss like you see in movies. But I’m starting to think that’s not real life because most people seem to start with that

    Our ceremony is:

Officiant makes statement about unplugged ceremony

    Grandparents walk in

    Parents walk in

    Wedding party walks in

    Ring bearers walk in

Me & My Dad walk in

    Officiant will start ceremony

    We read vows

    Sand ceremony / unity ceremony

    Officiant finishes (rings & I do's)

Pronouncement of us as husband and wife

Our officiant knows what he's doing and has a plan but that's the rough outline as of now Smiley smile
