Ceremony seating decoration

Kimi, on March 14, 2016 at 1:39 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 15

It occurred to me that when we threw the chair cover/sashes idea out the window we never replaced it with anything. The venue's chairs are hideous, but most people here say no one will notice, so I'm not going to worry about it. I do feel that there needs to be some sort of decoration in the ceremony space (ballroom). We are renting an arch, but that will, of course, be at the front. What types of decorations did you/are you using and do you have pictures?

I may have found some tulle "bows" on Etsy that aren't too expensive. I just hate spending a lot of money for something that is going to be used for about 30 minutes.

What about some cheap tulle for the outside chairs only? Or some flower bouquets to hang off a few chairs or shephard hooks?

We didn't decorate the ceremony space. Really, you don't have to do much. People will be looking up front, so as long as the arch is decorated, you will be fine!

Google or check pintrest for pomanders. They're flowers balls that would look lovely at a ceremony.

Just don't replace them. I know you said the chairs are ugly but you also said that you'll only be using them for 30 minutes. put that money into another part of your budget or keep it in savings.

We are planning for a chuppah and some flowers up at the front for the ceremony. For the rest of the decorations, we are renting two columns from our florist and using two table centerpieces from the reception to "decorate" the beginning of the aisle, behind the last row of chairs. It's something simple and they flowers are being reused.

Don't forget that besides spending the extra money, you may have to remove the decorations after the ceremony (one more task).

No one will be looking at the chairs, all eyes will be on you Smiley smile

Ours is outside. I'm not doing an arch or any type of "altar" decor. I am doing something like this though with shepherd hooks down the aisle with small blue mason jars and silk flowers. I'm doing real flowers everywhere else, but opted for silk for this as it was MUCH cheaper during Michael's and Hobby Lobby 50% off sales.

Could you rent or buy some inexpensive plants, candles or lanterns (maybe a combo of all of them) to have around the front? I'd inquire with some rental companies in your market and see if they have anything affordable for your ceremony.

I considered lanterns, but I'm afraid of sitting a lit candle on the floor. Findings shepherd's hook that can sit on a flat surface is difficult and expensive. All the rental decorations are (obviously) fake - and I do not want that at all. I think we decided on just the tulle "bows" on the outside chair of each row. Dresses it up a bit without going overboard.

The other problem is that we only get two hours to decorate the ceremony and reception space. Our DOC and my mom's SO will be doing this (and our florist will take care of setting up the centerpieces). Nothing elaborate, as we won't have time for it anyway.

We bought these starfish/tulle chair decorations from a recent bride on Craig's List for a great deal. They went perfectly with our beach wedding (and coincidentally, she got married at the exact same venue). We aren't doing an arch or anything - didn't want to interrupt the beautiful view of the beach/ocean that will be behind us.

I went back and forth on this for awhile. First, I was going to do something with shepherd's hooks, then I was going to do lanterns, then baby's breath in galvanized buckets.

In the end, I decided to do nothing. We have a lovely venue, no one will miss the decorations, and I don't have to stress or spend any extra money on something that's pretty, but will have no impact on how much fun FH and I and our guests have at our wedding.

You don't have to do anything. We had zero ceremony decorations. The backdrop of the mountains and the flower garden was gorgeous and no one noticed they were sitting on ugly metal folding chairs.

At our ceremony, we had an arch with a flower garland at the altar and lanterns in 2 alternating sizes and flower petals lining the aisle.

If the ceremony were outside, I'd let nature take care of the decorations. Since we'll be in a hotel ballroom, I'd like something to make it say "wedding" instead of "seminar".

We are doing a draped backdrop and petals lining both sides of the aisle. I am contemplating putting sashes on the chairs lining the aisle but that may be to much. There will also be 2 3ft colums with a vase and flower ball at the entrance. You could always line your aisle with petals. Its not difficult and makes the aisle look pretty.
