Ceremony at a separate location

Melissa , on November 3, 2019 at 2:41 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 12
Are any of you ladies planning to have your ceremony at a separate location from you reception? What did your timeline for photos and travel look like? I will be having a good amount of out of town guest so I’m keeping the travel for them in mind. However, I really want greenery and a natural scenery for my FH and I photos. Our venue unfortunately will not offer very much of that. I’m pretty set on the style of photos I’d like but I have to keep our guests in mind as well. Any suggestions or opinions?

Our ceremony is at a different location, about an hour away one way. The reception though will be at the hotel we are staying in, so it's not like they have to go to another place Smiley atonished

Our ceremony is about 20 minutes from the reception, and the hotel is within walking distance of the reception venue. We are anticipating hopefully 2 hours for family and bridal photos. Might be able to do bridal party pics before the ceremony. We are getting married in winter in Wisconsin, so the sun will be gone by 5. I'm not worried too much about travel, thinking our guests will even have a moment to stop back at their rooms before cocktails.

Our ceremony and reception places are about 35 minutes apart. We're trying to get most of the pics done before the ceremony and then the joint pics and family pics after. That should only leave our guests alone for about an hour or so.

Reception and ceremony all in one place. I have alot of elders who can't really get around and not to mention its much cheaper then doing two separate places. Saved us alot and on travel because everything is in one place.

Yes and we will have about a 2 hour gap, as little as we can make it. We have at least 75% OOT and while our church and reception locations are close, maybe walkable, they are not close to our best hotel options. Therefore, we opted to get shuttle services for our guests to go to the ceremony and reception, with the option to go back to the hotel or downtown area in between.

I have the options of doing it there but I’m afraid there will be a lot of cars driving by which will be a distraction. If you look closely you can see vehicles and construction signs on the back

How much are you paying for shuttles?

We have to decide on the shuttle timing to figure out our cost. We found a school bus company that will do 3 hours for $400 (wedding show special, normally $500) and fits 45-ish people. Extra continuous hours at $60, so that allows us to get people from hotel to ceremony, ceremony to hotel/downtown, and hotel/downtown to reception for $460. Not back from reception to hotel, but we need to decide whether to add hours for that or ask guests to Uber (plenty of Ubers by us). I prefer to add hours (though for them to come out again is a minimum of 3 more hours or $400) my fiancé says they can figure it out. So TBD.
Either way, it’s cheaper than limos/limo buses/party buses for that many people.
My sister just had one shuttle from her reception to their hotel for $160 plus tax, 1-2 runs. And she’s in a higher priced area than me. So I think it really depends.

We have our ceremony at 2pm it'll probably last about 45 minutes to an hour then we'll take family pictures there for hopefully about 30 minutes. From there we're going to head out for the wedding party pictures at another location for the nature for an hour, then off the the reception at like 530 and dinner will start at 6
We're gonna make sure everyone knows there's gonna be a break between. Figured they could freshen up or change or whatever until the reception

I had ceremony at a different location. Gave myself half an hour for travel since mine were all close.
