How much is everyone's budget for catering ? We are having 100 guests at our wedding and thought around $4000 would be reasonable. However, it seems like the catering may end up being thousands of dollars more ! I just wanted to get an idea of what most brides are spending or what route they went...

We wanted buffet style with maybe a couple of appetizers.

This really varies between locations. In the city I live in, food prices can be anywhere from $6 pp to $150 pp. Alcohol can be $7 pp for beer and wine to $30 pp. Most places we looked at were about $30 pp for dinner and unlimited soda, beer, and wine.

Also call restaurants - you may not think they cater but a Lot Of then actually do!

In Tacoma? Try Yellow Bird Catering. They do a dinner buffet with two entrees, three sides, coffee and tea foe $22/pp and you can get 2 passed apps for $9/pp or 3 for $12/pp. With tax and tips, you should be near your limit.

STRONGLY recommend the vegan stuffed peppers as a veggie entree if you have vegetarians!

Around $12K for 175 including alcohol and cocktail hour hors d'oeuvers. Our venue is a little different than most though, they don't cater anything, it is just the venue. We went a little more inexpensive and casual by going with a local BBQ place but the place that we chose is someone that caters a lot of my family functions (we do annual pig roasts) so they gave us menu pricing for our food. Our dinner is $4700 - again though BBQ is considered inexpensive compared to most catering and we received a huge deal. We also have to provide our own alcohol and mixers which we are estimating around $4K. We haven't finalized our hors d'oeuvers yet but based on quotes we are expecting around $3K for our cocktail hour. I didn't include the cost of bartenders, flatware, dishes, ect.

After tax, gratuity, fees, etc. We were quoted $12,000 for JUST our food and non alcoholic beverages. We used a guest count of 120 for the quote. This includes passed appetizers for cocktail hour and a buffet.

We're looking at about $350-400 per person with alcohol. It's hard to know exactly because we're doing alcohol by consumption (small wedding in a private dining room of a restaurant). This also includes two full meals - one very large upscale lunch and a later dinner that's a little more snacky in nature (and also consumption based, so there will be plenty of food). We're super feeders though. I spend at least $100 a person to throw dinner parties at home, so I wouldn't do anything less for a wedding. Which is also why we're only inviting 35ish guests.

This varies a lot. Mine is so much because I'm in downtown st.louis. If I did it in a small town I could have done it cheaper.

Mine is included with my venue. Including open bar with plated dinner and hor deurves it is 100 dollars per person. 150 guests. But after taxes and service charges it's going to be more like 23,000

Around $7400 for 40 people including alcohol, service charge, and tax. This is for 3 passed/stationary apps, salad, 5 entree options (1 multi-option station), cake and it's a hotel so no extra cost for cutlery, plates, linens etc.

Ours is all inclusive - open bar, apps, cocktail hour, buffet (three entrees + half a dozen sides and salads), cake, chocolate fountain, table set ups (silverware, linens, dishes) for $95pp. We'll be at around $13k for 125 people.
