Catering

Kylie, on March 1, 2017 at 8:14 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 61

How much is everyone's budget for catering ? We are having 100 guests at our wedding and thought around $4000 would be reasonable. However, it seems like the catering may end up being thousands of dollars more ! I just wanted to get an idea of what most brides are spending or what route they went with. We wanted buffet style with maybe a couple of appetizers.

120 guests $9000 not including alcohol (we are buying it wholesale). Includes a buffet with steak, chicken, a few sides, salad, and 6 passed apps during cocktail hour. This includes tip and gratuity also.

$4k for 100 people will be cutting it pretty close for food, drinks, alcohol, and serving staff. You'd need to be having something inexpensive like BBQ to make $40/person work.

It's included with my venue, but I think catering itself is about $80 per guest (super approximate), so I think total, our catering will be about $6000 for 75 guests. This is not including the full open bar, however. I would say $4000 for 100 people might be pretty difficult unless you go with cheaper options such as Italian or BBQ.

This varies hugely. Some people pay $100 per person or more for high end plated meals and several courses, others pay $15 per person for drop off BBQ from a restaurant.

It depends on your location and the type of catering you are looking for.

Very, very dependent on the kind of options you have (is catering choose from list or byob? does the caterer also provide linens and dishware?) and where you're located.

Have you looked at costofwedding.com? Really made me realize my goals were... less than half what people are paying near me. I'm not ready to compromise YET but I see now that I'm doing something unconventional.

$50 pp for dinner plus $12 pp for social hour. Alcohol is separate.

With gratuity, service fees and taxes, I think we'll be around $3500 for 40 guests.

We found a caterer that was 3,000 for 100 people (taxes and gratuity included) but not including alcohol.

Ours is about $2000 for 100 people for food only, not including alcohol . We are doing two seperate resturants because the dinner one does not provide appetizers but FH won't change his mind. We are doing veggie spring rolls, bacon cheddar flat bread and Pita chips with hummus for appetizers then chicken breast, tri tip with salad, rice and beans and rolls for dinner.

We're paying $118 per person. This includes buffet with multiple options, top shelf open bar all night, 8 plated hor d'oeuvres and 8 passed hor d'oeuvres, champagne toast and the wedding cake.

(Also includes the venue itself, choice of linens, napkins, chairs, etc).

This will be about $14k for 120 people.

Ours was $175 p.p., a few years ago, in a 5-star hotel ballroom. To summarize: loads of cocktail hour food, 4 plated courses, dessert bar including cake, 5 hours top shelf open bar, etc. , etc.
