Cash or check

DisneyNut, on September 29, 2014 at 4:57 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 40

Are you paying your vendors like the officiant, photographer, and misc other vendors with cash or check?

My officiant is my little brother so he gets paid in booze. I've paid most of my deposits by credit card through the square App or something similar.

It's been split about 50/50 between credit cards and checks for my deposits. I prefer credit cards for the protection (in case something goes wrong), but I understand why vendors prefer cash/check.

If you pay cash you can save on the tax.

I definitely would not do cash for anything except tips! You want a paper trail!

I've paid all the vendors by check. I was trying to get the mailing address for DJ to mail balance to, and he was like 'no thanks, I'd rather have cash day of', so I guess he's getting cash day of. I think checks are easier to keep track of and I will probably just tip in cash.

We were on payment plans for almost all of our vendors, since our engagement was so long we booked early and our payments were relatively small. So we paid every month with our debit cards, but tips will be in cash and our photographer gave us a discount for paying for our engagement prints in cash

So far all of our payments have been made using a check. Like GameCox said you want to have a paper trail.

Cashiers check actually. We don't want to use credit cards but I don't like the risk and uncertainty of a personal check. So we go to the bank and pay $1 for cashiers checks so that I don't have to worry about it and we have a paper trail.

So far a fair mix of both. We both work in the restaurant business so we have a lot of cash on hand anyway. We paid for our venue in cash, which I know they weren't expecting. Yikes.

I've been paying by card just so I can earn points, but for those like the officiant I will be giving a cashier's check because I don't want to wait for the check to post and because I don't want to give cash.

Credit card or check if they didn't take cards. No cash, no proof they were paid!

We've so far paid everyone with check or credit card. Everything has been paid in full except for gas money for our musicians. They've asked to be paid that in cash on the day of the wedding.

Don't do cash unless you have to pay on the day, when most of us won't accept checks.

It's split, but mostly checks only because some vendors take payment online (DJ and photographer), and others take checks (everyone else). Their tips will be cash, though.

We paid by credit card whenever possible to get the cash back points. Also, it feels safer to pay by credit card because you can dispute it if they break contract. We only paid by check if they offered a discount for cash or if they didn't accept credit cards. For tips, we paid by check. I don't think we paid anything in cash.

Apparently I'm the oddball, I've paid only in cash but I have signed receipts from everything.

All of our wedding stuff has been and will be paid by check. We purposely put nothing on credit because we don't want to start a marriage and have debt/a huge credit card bill to pay off. Our venue will get a cashiers check on Friday for the remaining balance that we owe. And the tips are all in cash.
