@Megan- I am the other odd ball- everything for ours has been paid in cash as well. Like you I have receipts for each and everything, and had them add notes with initials on all the contracts for payments that have been made. I also have emails with all my vendors so I have that paper trail as well.

I'm actually using my credit card and then paying it right away because we get cash back. It doesn't seem like much at first but so far has added up to a couple hundred dollars!

@MelRay I have emails too. The way we budget ourselves, the bank account is used for bills and savings and everything else is cash. It really helps us realize how much we spend when we have to see the cash leave our hands. FH can get a little "swipe happy" and will spend whatever is in the bank on whatever he fancies, but give him a $100 bill and it'll last him two weeks. It just works better for us Smiley smile

We have used cashier's checks and plan on continuing to do so. There is the safety of the paper trail (especially if you keep the receipt copy of the check the bank gives you) plus the security of not having your information compromised. There is typically a fee to get the checks from banks, but I have the added benefit of getting them for free from my work.

Check so far, but only have paid deposits and half of my dress. I know the reception hall wants a cashiers or certified check for final payment. That makes sense since they don't want it returned after your wedding day and services rendered.

All of my vendors had to be paid in advance, which I paid via e-transfer with a credit card.

We're paying with a credit card for the points. Plus it's easier to keep track of the expenditures.

I'd prefer check but the two main vendors (wedding coordinator/officiant and the photographer) said cash the day of. I am traveling and hate the idea of having that much cash on me though.

Most of the big money vendors are getting paid in either credit card or check. Almost all of my vendors require full payment a month or 2 weeks before the wedding so it is really only tips I would be paying the day of in cash.

Thanks ladies. The baker is saying cash (she is a former coworker though and won't be paid until it is delivered anyway). I will pay the photographer and officiant with a check the day of.

If I accept a check, it will be long enough before the wedding for it to actually clear.

It was a mix. We paid our venue's final payment with a bank check because that was what they required in the contract. The photographer, videographer and photo booth payments we mailed in checks. And the DJ we were able to pay online with a debit cards.

Credit card and use the cash we've saved for the wedding to pay off the credit card each month. That's the only way we to use a cc if you have the cash already to back it up.

And who gives a discount on tax??? Businesses still have to pay taxes regardless if they charge it or not, right? So that seems pretty silly for a vendor to do unless they aren't even paying taxes to begin with.

We are paying for everything on our credit cards (then paying them off in full) so that we get extra points!

Check and credit card...I wouldn't ever do cash, not even for the tip. I would be too nervous I'd lose the envelope and someone, other than the intended person, would walk away with the cash. A check would a least make sure no one other than the correct person could cash it.
