Carnations?

Nova2011, on February 14, 2010 at 1:34 PM Posted in Planning 0 19

OK, I love carnations but after reading an article on another wedding site. I am having second thoughts. The article stated that carnations are very cheap looking and take away from the wedding look. it also stated to stay away from them even if you are on a budget. It said that if all you can afford are carnations, you are better off not having any flowers at all.

Do any of you agree?

After all we are not having a wedding for say just a 25th anniversary Wedding Vow Renewal.

I don't agree. It sounds like that person had a personal issue with the flower. I think that carnations are cute ^_^

I think your first phrase "i love carnations" should be enough to answer that question! Your wedding/vow renewal should be about what you love and want, not what the author of some article thinks. I've seen some beautiful carnation arrangements!

I also like carnations. I wouln't let one person's opinion throw you off your vision. Do what you want. It's your day afterall. Smiley smile I also saw beautiful bouquets when I was searching online...I couldn't believe they were carnations. Simply breathtaking.

I also love carnations. I think you should use whatever flower that appeals to you. Honestly, I think the folks who say carnations look cheap only view the world through materialistic goggles. You don't need advice from people who are shallow enough to equate in inexpensive flower with tackiness.

Go with carnations if you love carnations.

If you love carnations, go for it! A talented floral designer should be able to make any flower look great, no matter what. I personally think carnations are beautiful. They add great texture and come in so many colors!

Ok so I am going with what I love. I just thought it was rude of that person to say what flower implies tackiness. Specially since everyone is different.

I think carnations are fine and can look really cool if you use one color and lots of them. See the pictures that Rosie posted above

BG I agree. I love carnations and have seen even roses and other expensive flowers look tacky just from the arrangement but those are my opions also.

I don't think they look cheap, but honestly, they do remind me of funerals. But if you love them, that's all the should matter!

If you love carnations.....use them. They are a beautiful flower. The last well, come in a huge number of colors, and have a wonderful fragrance. Don;t let some stranger who wrote an article change your mind. I have used them in dozens of weddings. Use them and enjoy them.

Whoever in the heck said that... ignore them!

I love carnations also. I have always loved them. Family and friends know this to the point that I do not want roses on my casket at my funeral.... LOL

I'm using white carnations and red gerbera daisies in my bouquet. My MOH and all coursages and bouts will be done in the white carns.

I think they are beautiful. And they hold up WONDERFULLY compared to almost any other flower, especially roses.

    Go for what YOU love.
