So - how much did size matter to you?? Were there certain color or quality ranges you wanted to stay within? Did your fiancé(e) tackle all of these ring decisions on their own?

You are right. You love it because someone gave it to you and what it symbolizes, not for the 4 Cs.

I'd say cut for me but also Cost!! It's the sentiment for me not the monetary value. My cousins now husband first proposed to her with a $30 CZ ring that was gorgeous and what he could afford at the time. I told my FH he could totally do that because marrying him was all that mattered. He wouldn't have it that way and made sure he got me a ring I like with a diamond in it lol.

Clarity and color for sure for me! What's the point of having a big diamond if it looks dull. I can def. notice the difference so for me that was super important. Not everyone notices though unless they put their ring side by side with one that's better in those areas. I mean I wanted a big rock, but it wasn't a huge deal if I didn't get one.

Clarity for sure! I'd rather have a beautiful sparkly ring that's smaller than a huge ring that's yellowish or doesn't sparkle.

You might have some sentiment attached to it, but if is is not your style I highly doubt you will love it. I was given a necklace by an ex once. I hated the damn thing. It was not me at all. I love that he gave it to me, but I never wore it because it wasn't me.

It's wonderful you feel this way, but we are not going to agree here.

What mattered most was the clarity. I have an oval diamond, D color, 1 +carat engagement ring and I LOVE everything about it. I fell mostly in love with my setting and my diamond sparkles so brightly! I wanted a cushion, then loved the look of the radiant, but I'm just smitten with how well the oval looks; he did a great job🤗🤗

Cut and color mattered most to me. I have a 3/4 carat oval and would prefer a clearer, more brilliant stone (throw color in there too Smiley tongue) than a larger stone.

    Cut was most important.

I wanted cushion cut, but other than that my FH had free reign to design how he please!

You're right. I wouldn't have cared what he proposed with. My parents have been married 35 years with no engagement ring.
That being said, since I DO have a ring, why isn't cool to say what is most important to you? I don't think post is saying you need a ring, it's saying what did you look for in your ring if you have one?

Relax... When you shop, you usually have something in mind. What's important to you in a pair of pants? What's important in a ring you'll wear on your hand forever?

Personally I didn't get a choice because my FH did it all on his own and it was a complete surprise. But I know he wanted a round cut for me, and looked at the other C's too to get a nice white diamond.

And I would've taken anything. Except a ring pop. I'd just eat that. 😊

I didn't have any say in it but I wanted a round cut clear with great clarity. I was afraid if he ever proposed he'd pick a ring that had the 4 squares making a bigger one or a bunch of smaller ones making up the middle stone. I love the look of a single stone on it's own with details on the band and he got it perfect!

Fh picked mine out and it was a complete surprise, we never discussed rings. I was incredibly happy when I saw what he purchased. I would have to say if I had any say in it, I would have gone for clarity & cost. I would have investigated a little more and had him go with Moissanite as well.

I didn't have a carat size in mind when we went shopping. I knew I wanted a solitaire setting though. I fell in love with cushion cuts because they were SO sparkly and just blew me away. It was important to FH to find something that was a very quality diamond with no visible flaws. He found a great deal on a diamond that was ethically sourced (which I was very happy about) that met all of his/my wants. I ended up with a 1.8 ct cushion cut diamond ring that is perfect and my absolute dream ring.

Exactly! I'm happy with my smaller diamond since it's a good quality one. I have diamond earnings that are not perfectly clear and have imperfections and they look so cloudy if I put them next to my ring lol

I didn't care about anything other than cost. I didn't want to spend an exorbitant amount of money on my ring when I could put that elsewhere. I originally wanted an Opal ring, but we found a pear white sapphire in a halo setting that I fell in love with.
