Can't pick a dress to save my life

Katie, on October 2, 2013 at 10:49 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 68

I'm back Smiley sad I posted a discussion about 4 weeks ago with a few dresses that I was trying to decide between. The one that "won" you guys over had entirely too much "bling" or my taste. It was the Karena Royale by Maggie Sottero. I very much appreciate the votes, but I just couldn't sell myself on it.

So I found myself trying on dresses yet again last night.

I wrote down three that were half way decent, and although I'm not sure if any of these are THE ONE, I need to know if I'm on the right path. Be honest, tell me which ones are awful or if any are OK.

The first dress is Allure 2455. I think I like it, but its SO different than what I thought I wanted that I'm afraid to like it. I'm also worried that the front is a little too old lady.

The second dress is La Sposa Daina, and I thought I liked it until my mom referred to the top as "toilet paper". Unfortunately I only have a decent picture of the front. The dress was huge so the back looks silly all pinned up.

The third dress is Maggie Sottero Sawyer. I really like the back, because I seem to have an obsession with buttons, but I can't decide if I'm digging the front.

Thanks in advance for the opinions.

    Don't settle--keep looking!

It's true what they say--you WILL find "the one."

Also, try higher end department stores, boutiques and other types of stores til you find your signature style.

You are soooo pretty but you need to find the dress that makes you feel that way.

Good luck and keep looking and posting Smiley smile

PS Ignore my facial expressions. Clearly I wasn't ready to take the picture. I'm just a little too lazy to crop my face out today lol

I don't see one picture in which you are smiling... Smiley sad

ETA - just saw your comment. Even still. I think you should love the dress you're in and it should show in your face. I tried on nearly 80 dresses. Yes! 80!! And when I finally tried on the one I eventually purchased, you could just tell I was beaming in it.

Adding a sparkly sash/belt could help break up the monotony of the front and accentuate your waist.

This is my dress, which is similar:

I should have added that I already bought a dress. The boutique I bought it from is allowing me to exchange it for another, with a restocking fee. I'm tied to this boutique, which somewhat limits my selections.

What dress did you buy? I like the first of those the most, try adding a sash! you could probably alter the top, too if you wanted.

I'm under a lot of pressure to pick a dress soon. I'm 9 months out from the wedding date and I've been back to the boutique twice now and left with nothing. I feel bad that I keep dragging my mom out, and I'm stressed about paying for everything wedding related. I am happy but very overwhelmed at this point.

These are not your gowns, your body language says it all. Even if you weren't ready for the picture, you'd be a lot more confident looking in them. And, truth be told, they're all pretty much the same dress. Have you tried on something a bit different? These are all lace, fit and flare gowns. What about a different silhouette or a different type of fabric? You may surprise yourself!

And, are you going to the same dress shop??? Try a different place!

Edit: Nevermind- didn't see that you're tied to the shop. What's wrong with the first dress you bought? Why did you buy it? Why don't you like it? Have you tried it on again? Have you added accessories to it? So what if it lost your poll on here, that's like taking WAAAAY too many women to try on your dress!

You don't seem happy in any of them. Smiley sad

Don't pressure yourself; you'll find a dress. Don't think about other things when you're there, just see what you feel best in.

Of the 3, I think #2 looks best on you. It seems a bit simpler (which you said you prefer) and I think it looks flattering on you. Don't worry about what your mom said. What matters is what you think.

I have to go to the same shop because I'm exchanging the dress above that I already bought. I must be crazy because I thought I loved that dress, but months later I hated it. I'm so scared to pick a dress at this point because I don't want to mess up again.

@Out The Window - you just made me feel 10 times better. I thought I was the only one who had tried on this many.. I've lost count at this point but its probably upwards of 80!

Try on something completely different, just to see. Maybe a ball gown or a dropped waist style. You might surprise yourself.

Maybe you can't choose one because you still have time? I agonized over wedding invitations for 10 months, but I was able to finally make a decision in the 11th hour. It was do or die at that point.

The dresses you showed us all pretty much have the same shape. Maybe you need to try on a couple ballgowns, some shorter dresses, an A-line or two. I don't think you're giving yourself enough variety to choose from.

Ok, you need to relax and enjoy the moment and never settle.

my 2 cents. I like strapless on you so I would stick with that. Are you going to different shops?
