Cannot decide on end of September or end of October wedding date in Connecticut

Brittany, on October 10, 2017 at 5:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 37

I'm looking for a bit of advice. I have found a wonderful farm venue with September 29th or October 27th available. It will be a tented wedding reception with cocktail hour outside or in a barn. I am torn because I know October is cooler and there may still be leaves on the tree but I also worry it will be too cold for guests to hang outside and enjoy the farm. I feel like the weather in September would be more promising. Would I still be able to get away with a "fall" themed wedding the end of September. Any advice would be helpful!!

For sure! You can definitely get away with a fall themed wedding on the 29th of Sept. Also, a little birdie told me that September 29th is a pretty badass date (potential date twins!). I would also check your annual weather trends for those dates specifically in the location you want. There's always abnormal years, but it helps to get an idea of exactly how cold it will be.

My date is September 29 and I'm going with a fall feel, although we choose spring colors. In your venue information just let them know what kind of clothes they should be expecting to wear based on your location and the weather

I believe September would be the perfect choice for a fall theme. Mine is September 23rd and I'm also doing a fall theme. It's whatever you want to make it. It's your day! Heck, you could have a winter theme in the summer, as long as it is what you want! Congratulations!

September in many parts of the country is one of the most popular months. I would also check if October is considered out of season for many of your vendors-it may save you money and make it easier to book top vendors before they book up.

October weather in CT can be quite unpredictable and cold. Also, if there has been a lot of rain in the weeks of September and early October, the leaves seem to die and fall off much quicker. I would suggest choosing the September date to ensure your guests' comfort as much as possible. A fall theme is perfect for September! If you really had your heart set on having some sort of foliage, I would suggest using the following foliage map to understand what the foliage may be for your venue during September:

I think end of September sounds perfect for what you want. End of October will probably be too cold to do anything outside, unless there is a heat wave that week.

I'm having a fall themed wedding on September 29th in CT! So.. I'm a little biased. Smiley smile But! A major part for me was it stays lighter longer in September than in October. (I did originally want an October wedding but think it worked out for the best.)

The date in September sounds like it'd be better weather! The fall theme would work too!

I may be a little biased but September 29th is a great date! Smiley smile we are doing any early gal theme and will be in the mountains of NC so doing decorations of cream pumpkins, yellow/light orange leaves, etc. Being in Connecticut I imagine it would be even colder so o think the end of September is a safer date, weather wise.

The rational side of me says do end of September for your location.

The fun side of me says do end of October bc then we'd be date twins!

But really I'm in Florida so that's a little different for the weather.

9/29/18 was our second date choice! It's 100% acceptable to go with the fall theme at the end of September! If we had that date we would have done the same! Happy planning!(:

September for sure. I'm in Upstate NY so our weather is probably really similar, and it's not unheard of to get snow at the end of October, so I think you'll have better luck with the weather in September!

When I lived that way the end of October was too cold for me. But I'm from Texas and don't like the outside temp to be below like 60. That's just me though

September up North would be beautiful! In the Midwest it would probably be too hot for a "fall" theme, but it would probably be just perfect for you!

We're in Philadelphia PA and our wedding will be in Warminster. Ours is in late October. The weather here has been driving me nuts though; this past week or more has been in the upper 70s ! I want my fall weather ! My biggest concern is rain. I've actually tracked the weather on my specific date all the way back to 2005 and it's only rained once. We have a backup plan, just in case. Up where you are, late Oct may be a bit too chilly. Sept 29th would probably be better and yes, a fall theme will still work !! Smiley winking
