Cancun/ Riviera-maya wedding, bad smell?

Hi, I’m planning on getting married on the eastern side of Mexico. I’ve been hearing that the beaches are covered with tons seaweed and it has a bad smell. Does anyone know how bad is it around the months of February, March, or April?

From what I’ve heard, it gets worse between May thru August. However certain parts of Cancun don’t get hit as bad. It is worse in the riviera maya, playa del Carmen, Tulum, etc areas. That being said I’m getting married in Playa del Carmen 5/29/2020! We chose to do an alternative ceremony spot and are getting married at a cenote! And having a rooftop reception.

Do you plan on hiring a wedding planner in the area? They may be able to advise as locals on the smell during different times of the year!
