Cancelling your wedding that is towards the end of the year?

Keyaira, on April 9, 2020 at 9:39 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 3
I was supposed to be getting married September 26th of this year, but due to the coronavirus neither of us are working and having to live off of our wedding savings so we won’t be able to afford it now. Is anyone else cancelling this far away? I’m so upset and it seems like it’s far enough away but it’s just not. We’ve only put $1000 down on the venue but we have party favors and other things with the original date on it..... will it be tacky to use these things at our wedding that will now be a different date? I don’t really want to do that but my mom and FH say we should 😭😭

It would absolutely not be tacky to use the favors with your original date, if you're postponing due to the pandemic! People will understand, and besides, the date change is part of your story anyway. Best of luck

I would evaluate your finances at the time of your wedding. If you can afford new favors, with your new date, I would get new ones.

    Hi Keyaira,

I'm so sorry to hear that you had to postpone your wedding. I can imagine it's very disappointing. BUT you are not alone! There are several discussions about dated decor items, so you may find some inspiration and/or feedback in any of these conversations:

    - What to do about dated favors

    - What to do with wedding decor with different date

    - Re-purchasing items with dates after postponing wedding

Personally, I don't think it's tacky to use the favors with your original wedding date. The current situation with COVID-19 is unprecedented, and I would prioritize making wise financial decisions over re-purchasing favors with the new date. Just my two cents' worth!

I'm wishing you the best of luck with your new date! Smiley heart
