Can you sit in your mermaid dress?

Vanessa, on August 22, 2016 at 4:37 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

Been waiting 4 and half mths for my dress to arrive in my size. The dress I originally tried on was not available to try on in my size but feel in love with it and said yes to the dress. Now that my dress came in I tried it on and am upset because I can't sit down in it. It looks fine on and doesn't look like I would have a hard time until I did the sit test in which was not successful. I am so sad. Is anyone else going through this issue? Can this be fixed?

My dress is mermaid and I had my "try-on" appointment with the actual dress when it came in and I'm able to sit just fine. I was worried about that part when originally trying them on. Maybe you needed a bigger size and they can let it out in the hip area. I'm sure they can alter it to fit you properly. Good luck!

It needs to be let out if you cannot sit.

See if it can be let out a tiny bit. You need to be able to sit down.

I want to be able to sit, dance, and eat. I hope they can take it out because if not I would have to lose some serious weight.

Definitely have them take it out. I am pear-shaped and actually had to order my mermaid dress one size up so that I had enough room around my hips, and just had the rest of it taken in. You really need to be able to sit and move comfortably.

My sample size was super big and baggy in the stomach already but around my hips it was too tight. So I ordered a size up even though parts were already too big. That way they can alter everything else down and hopefully I will be able to sit. We shall see! I could barely sit in the sample!

My bridal store actually ended up ordering me the wrong size (a size too small). They're lucky I was able to lose about 17 lbs., as it fits now but is definitely tight. I find that I can sit, but just have to pull the skirt up a bit. My dress is a less "severe" mermaid fit though.

If they messed up, they should fix it! Demand that they get you the correct size in time!!!!

I can sit. I couldn't at first and then I lost 10 lbs. I gained about 3-5 back and I can still sit, but I definitely have to watch myself these next 2 weeks.
