Calling all destination wedding brides! Needing Help on Guest Attire!

Sandi, on May 27, 2020 at 12:08 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4
Hi! My fiancé and I are getting married at a resort in Cancun this November. The ceremony is NOT on a beach but in a palapa our over the ocean. It’s not black tie- however, the vibe is classy chic. What are your dress codes for your welcome party And wedding if you too are getting married at a resort?

We're not getting married in Cancun, but we are getting married in the Keys. On a dock overlooking the ocean, while our reception will be in an Palapa overlooking the ocean. What exactly is your definition of classy chic? Because what I envision (men in linen and chinos, women in casual flirty dresses, or jumpers / slacks) and what I google are basically the same which is a step up from dressy casual.

You set the tone of your wedding by the type of invitation you purchase, the font, etc. You really shouldn't notate a dress code on the invitations, although some do and not completely taboo.

Hello! I am also having a destination wedding in Cancun, where the venue is a rooftop over the ocean. Personally I don’t want guests to where casual clothes since the venue is more modern and in the evening, but I understand it will be hot outside, so the dress code we decided on is “Semi-formal, jacket not required, no shorts or jeans.”

Hey there! That's so exciting, and sounds like such a beautiful wedding. We are having a destination wedding in Puerto Rico! We decided to go with "cocktail attire" for our wedding day in the rainforest, and "island chic - casual" for our tropical welcome party on the ocean. I would steer clear of using the word beach if your wedding is not on the actual beach since people might dress too casually. I could see "Island Chic" working for your palapa wedding too!
