    Fondant is for looks only. It's so expensive for something no one will eat. Unless the cake is super fancy, most cakes can be decorated with buttercream and no one would know the difference.

    American Buttercream and Fondant both make me want to yak.

    We told our baker we hated frosting (because we really did) and she made us a homemade Swiss Buttercream. If you guys haven't had it- I highly recommend!
