Cake Table what goes on it?

Megan, on February 1, 2013 at 4:41 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 10

So at our venue they have 72" round tables, 6'&8' tables avaliable. i was thinking about using a round table but that seems really big if the cake is the only thing on it... would it be ok to put mint, nuts, other little muchies for with the cake out then add plates, silverware and napkins after the cake cutting. dont know that it matters but we are having a cupcake/2 tier wedding cake the stand is about 30" /- at the bottom...

Tell us more about your wedding... colors, do you have a theme, or a specific look you're going for (rustic, vintage, natural, etc.) Also is it indoors or out?

I had my cake in the kitchen untell shortly before serving it i was afraid some one would touch it or something. my fear with you cake especially its cup cakes! if you put goodis by it what if people decide to help themselves to cakes?! (ah!) perhaps you can just put pretty things around it? at my "cake table" we had pictures of me and hubby in frames and had the once toward the center slid back and over a little to put the cake there when we were ready to bring it out.

What about just putting decorations on the table. Like pic one

Or just scatter some flowers around (pic 2)

The last one I posted just for fun. that is one big a$$ cake! LOL

We have a star theme so the only reason we would even put the bowls of goodies out before cutting the cake is they are start shaped and fit with everything else. Its inside, so I dont have to worry about the fun outdoors brings. and we shouldnt have to worry about cupcake theives Smiley smile before cause we can ask an aunt to guard it since we will cut the cake in the beginning probably. but i wasnt sure it i was supposed to put the plates and all goodies on another table or if i could save room and head aches by keeping it all together.

If you have favors then perhaps you could put those around it. I wouldn't put snacks because I would be too worried that someone would decide it would be okay to help themselves to the cake.

But if you are going to have a 'guard' then it should be completely fine Smiley smile

The hotel we used for my daughters wedding had a banquet rounds, but used a square table for the cake. The table also held the plates, a couple of candles and a bowl of mints. The "tossing" bouquet was also on it.

I was thinking of just having some candles on the table with the cake.

HisMrs - Oh my gosh that's a huge cake!

I just had my cake on the table with candles, our toast glasses were there and also the cake cutting set....and it was beautiful....the grooms cake was on another table, just next to the wedding cake.
