Cake smash in face - yes or no?

I'm curious on opinions about whether or not you ladies are planning to smash the cake in your hubby's face. I'm torn on this! Part of me wants to, the other part doesn't. I think it would be fun, but if I chose to I think it won't be super drastic. And what if my makeup is messed up?!

No. If I'm paying a bazillion dollars for hair and makeup (and cake!) I'm not ruining or wasting it. Plus to me these are just tacky.

No way. I think it's tacky and looks childish. Every time I see pictures of it, I think of those photo shoots with babies that have a "smash cake" for their first birthday. We will nicely feed each other cake and keep it classy and romantic.

No. Absolutely not. Not only does it destroy the symbolism of the feeding of the cake (that you will provide for each other), DF and I both find it extremely disrespectful toward one another, not to mention potentially ruining hair, makeup, and clothes that we spent a LOT of money on.

I actually asked DF his thoughts on it once to see his reaction. He was appalled and said, "Why would I want to do that to my new wife?! I respect you too much for that!"

I hate it too. Rude, messy and uncalled for. ESPECIALLY with tip jars to vote for one person to smash it on the other or visa versa....

I personally have always viewed it as a disrespectful way to treat your spouse on your wedding day. It just doesn't seem nice to me!

DH and I did not talk about this-- he did a great job-- got a tiny piece right in my mouth, and I was so anxious, I got him right on the side of the face. I was so mortified! FWIW, then I kissed him and we both had cake on our faces....
